Global issues ' if I could end one
Every new day feels like the world is waking up with a fresh wound. It is either hunger in one place, climate disasters in another, or political unrest somewhere else. The truth is, the world is full of problems and sometimes it’s easy to get overwhelmed because we are reminded that human beings have created most of these problems ourselves.
If I had the chance to erase one global issue permanently, without thinking too long, I would choose war. I know some people will say hunger, poverty, or even climate change should come first, but to me war is the root of too many other problems. War does not just end lives; it shatters families, divides communities, destroys nations, and leaves scars that last for generations.
The sad thing about war is that the innocent suffer the most. When you look at the news and see mothers running with children in their arms, people hiding underground because bombs are falling, young boys forced to fight in battles they don’t even understand, you realize how unfair it is. These are people who just wanted a simple life, maybe farm, go to school, raise their families, but war stole that dream away from them.
Another painful part of war is the amount of displacement it causes. Millions of people become refugees, forced to leave everything they know behind. Imagine working your whole life to build a home and in a single night you are forced to run with just the clothes on your back. No matter how strong you are, such a thing breaks you inside. The trauma does not end when the war stops, because rebuilding takes decades and the memories of loss can never be wiped away.
Economically too, war leaves nations in deep holes. Resources that could have been used to improve schools, hospitals, and jobs end up being wasted on weapons and destruction. Children who should be in classrooms are hiding in camps, and countries that should be building roads and industries are left in ruins. Development is pushed backward by decades.
Some may argue that war is unavoidable because human beings will always fight over power, land, or resources. But I believe if world leaders put aside pride and greed, most conflicts could be solved by dialogue, compromise, and understanding. We live in a time where technology has connected us more than ever, yet instead of using that connection to build peace, we still choose destruction.
So yes, if I had the power to erase one global issue, I would end war. The world has bled enough, innocent people have died enough, and too many children have lost their childhoods to battles they never started, and it is unfair.
