Today my husband surprised us with a very special breakfast: delicious mandocas, a classic dish from his homeland. Mandocas are sweet, cheese-filled pastries shaped like pretzels, which are fried over high heat until golden brown and crispy. I love mandocas with lots of cheese and a touch of sweetness. I enjoyed them with another serving of cheese and a frothy café con leche—a truly delightful breakfast, the kind that makes starting the day feel truly blessed.
