Two Different Kinds of Snacks Made with Saba: Banana Cue and Thin Sliced Banana Coated with Glutinous Rice Flour Batter

With the recent typhoon, Opong, a lot of people with little garden in their plot was affected too. Auntie Velyn was not spared because the banana tree in her backyard was cut down because if the strong wind. Because of that she has a lot of banana and we we're also given some. Banana is really good with anything. We can mix it in some dish so we'll never get tired of it as long as we try cooking it in different ways. Aside from boiling and frying it, we can also make a sweetened banana out of it, easy and on point no? We already tried making banana fritters and this one is just as good as the others. My favorite was frying it then sprinkling sugar in it while it is still frying. It's called Banana Cue.

Making this is really easy, you literally just have to fry it in a boiling cooking oil and it should be swimming in it so that the banana will be cooked evenly.

We used high heat in cooking this because we want a crispy outside and soft inside texture. The caramelized sugar will also help and give it a crispy skin. I love it so much!

You can put lots of sugar if you want but on this version, we didn't put much sugar in it, just the right amount of sugar because the banana is already sweet. And to complete it, I used a stick and put two whole banana in it. Like a real banana cue that we can often buy in some corner of the street. It's perfect if we have a cold sago't gulaman or a palamig to pair with it. ( /^ω^)/♪♪

This banana cue is one of a Filipino snacks that every Filipino loves. As for me I have a lot of amazing memories with it. Back then a stick of banana cue is just 5 pesos. It's my go to snacks because they are cheaper and can really make you full.

Now, for the second snacks and Bananas as the main ingredients. I don't really know what this is. Mommy D just decided to make this, different to the usual where we'll cut the bananas into four and in a strip then coat it with flour mixture. This time though we used Glutinous Rice Flour and man, using this will really give you and soft crunchy coated bananas. We love it! Though, it can be too oily but you can use tissue paper to squeeze out those oil.

So we'll start by cutting all the bananas into thin slices. Then here's our glutinous rice flour, we just need water, sugar and salt to make the glutinous rice flour batter. We didn't put much sugar in it, you can just do your own measurement for it, same with the water, it's should be not too watery, and can still coat the bananas.

Next is coating the bananas with the mixtures. Once the pan is ready and the oils boiling, you can then start frying the bananas coated with glutinous rice flour batter. Cook it until golden brown.

Like this (^._.^)ノ, look, i'm sure you can already tell how crispy it is right? It's really crispy and the way the crispy mixture of the batter stick to the teeth is just, whoa, it'a super crispy guys.

And by the way, I fried all of them individually so it took me a long time before I could finish them all, but its super worth it. I really live the crunch in it ♪┌|∵|┘♪

This banana recipe is actually popular in our town and I remember how often we used to eat this on snack almost everyday, in school and in home. I have many memories of banana because this helped us survive during calamity when foods need to be budgeted. What you cooked is so delicious.
