Slow and Predictable Life Plus Leftovers!

The backyard has growing more sweet potato leaves right now, is that thanks to the rain? Thanks to that, everyday we have fresh green leafy vegetable that we can pick and had it for lunch until dinner. What's amazing with sweet potato leaves was, just throw some leftover fresh stem of it in the yard and leave them for week and voila, you can expect them to grow in there soon. Sweet potato leave never fail us when it comes to that.

Early in the morning and Mama is already busy picking up some sweet potato leaves and alugbati. She sais, rather than think of what vegetable dish to prepare or to buy in a restaurant, she'll just pick some greens in the garden and cook it herself. I agree to that, much healthier and she cab save more by doing so. Look at her carefully cutting the Alugbati out of its stem.

And here's what she got, fresh, fresh, fresh! It'll be awesome if we can also pick some tomatoes now. It's perfect for making soup using these two green leaves. But sadly the tomatoes are not ready for pick up yet. They are growing really fast right now thought which is cool.

After picking up all the veggies, Mama proceed on cutting some wood. It's hard look for a wood right now because it us still raining here, if not in the afternoon, it'll rain at night.

Anyways, once Mama finish taking care if everything in her dirty kitchen, she asked me if I want to go to the market and immediately said yes. We still have some leftovers Sauteed Monggo in the fridge so i'll just heat that later. But Mommy F wants fish, specifically smoked fish to pair with the sauteed monggo so I really have to visit the market to check.

Sadly I couldn't smoked fish in the market but I found fresh Dilis or Anchovy so I thought of making Tortang Dilis and I'm glad that it is really fresh so I bought half kilo of it.

The anchovy we found is a bit bigger and I this kind has really bitter taste because of what's in it's stomach. So even with long process, I decided to remove it's head together with what's inside it's stomach. And this is the best thing to do here because no more bitter taste after that

After cleaning it thoroughly I started preparing the mixture and everything. Ah, I didn't show it here but i uses two large egg for this and hmmmm, I think five tablespoon of flour. I didn't really measure it so adding the flour gradually is the best thing to do to get the right consistency if the mixture for our Tortang Dilis.

I actually used a really small saucer here and put the dilis mixture in it before dropping them in the boiling oil. There's no reason why I use it, I just feel like doing it that way, haha.

And here's the super crispy Tortang Dilis, fried with love! Haha ♪ \(^ω^\ ). And that's the Sauteed Monggo, the one from yesterday's lunch. Mommy D cooked a lot and it's not like we can eat a lot. The truth is, we don't eat that much, that's why in every dish we made, we always had leftovers that can be eaten even until lunch time the next day. But you know, the leftovers taste better the longer it stays in the fridge then reheat it, ehe. Ah, another thing, if we have leftovers, I don't have to cook or prepare anything today so I have more freedom if ever. That's why I love leftovers! How about you? ╮(^▽^)╭

Tortang dilis😭🥰❤️ I wasn’t a big fan of this just because I can taste the bitterness but since you mentioned that you can remove the head and stuff then maybe it isn’t supposed to be bitter. In general tho I love fish + egg combo hahah

I like cooking a lot too, just so we don’t have to cook again since we can just eat the leftovers. :D

Ohhh, i'm sure you will like this, there's no bitter taste at all and the oldies enjoy too. The only problem is the bones, the fish are too big so the bones is bigger too. But, if you eat it crispy, its not a problem at all ✨. But fish and egg combo are the best talaga 💃💃

Like cooking a lot purposely, for the leftovers ✨🥴

There’s just something different about home-cooked meals, lalo na when you can still enjoy them the next day—tipid na, healthy pa, hehehe 😊

That's so true, and the tipid, hahah. Real! We don't get sick in one meal egen if we eat them 3 to 5 times, esp if ayos naman ang lasa.

Ehhhh, really? They are good even if just boiling them, and with the right dipping sauce. You can also mix them in fish soup 🤔
