Lunch With The Oldies: Healthy Sinabawang Bangus I Prepared with Mustasa and Labanos
It's been months since I last had Bangus or Milkfish. We can't eat it because Mommy F thought Bangus is also bad for her. It's just like how she thought that anchovies is bad for her when in fact, it can be good for her because of it's omega 3 fatty acid. And Bangus has that too, according to google. Well, good news, at least we can eat this fish if ever I crave for it. I love to eat bangus when it is fried after soaking in soy sauce, pepper, salt, calamansi and msg. It's the best with steamed white rice. I also like the soupy version, and that's what's i'm going to share here today. And to make it healthier, we mix two kinds of vegetables in it which us Labanos and Mustasa. ( /^ω^)/♪♪

We headed to the market to buy Milkfish and that time you can't find other fish her and mostly just Bangus and Tilapia. Well, with the bad weather the other day, that's to be expected. One kilo of Bangus cost 250 pesos. We got one whole big bangus which cost us 187 pesos, but the seller only asked 185 pesos, we saved 2 pesos there, lucky!

I also asked the seller to clean and cut the Bangus, and because it's big, he cut it into 7. Now all I have to do at home is clean it thoroughly.

So yeah, I'll be making Sinabawang Bangus and for the Ingredients, we'll only need: onion, garlic, salt, water and msg or any seasonings. I added them all in a casserole and we'll boil it.

And while we're waiting the fish to be cook, we'll peel the labanos and clean the mustasa. I have to clean the mustasa thoroughly because I don't want my greens with tiny worms, haha. I soak it for 5 minutea in a water with salt by the way and clean it more to remove all the dead bodies... Err of the worm or pest of course. ╮(^▽^)╭

I just cut the Labanos like this. Once all the veggies are set, I check the fish and it's finally finally cook. When I cook. Sinabawang Isda with vegetables, I always remove the fish first before adding the veggies. But you can skip this if you want and mix the veggies with the fish. Mine is really just kaartihan, lol.

And notice the fish soup guys, look at how fatty it is, yum, yum. That's the natural fat of the fish, I didn't put oil in it. Ah, I also added a cups of water in it then seasoned it again. And after that I added the labanos next.

I just wait one minute before I add the mustasa, I also put three long green chili in it because Mom requested it.

I cook the veggies much more especially the mustasa because I want it it softer and easy to chew. Once it's done, I added again the fish and let it boil for another minute and it'a done. Our hot soup with the fatty milkfish is ready to serve ♪ \(^ω^\ ). And I'm the one who prepare and cook it. Proud me \(๑╹◡╹๑)ノ♬ hihi

The labanos looks like a yam. I love fish, too. Perhaps the name over there, bangus, is different from what we might call it here. I hope you enjoyed the meal, though.
