Cooking and Eating Gulyasan Again After So Many Years of Not Eating It: I Made It Healthy and With Green Leafy Vegetables

1000029077.png

The only fish I know and are willing to eat is bangus, lagidlid, galunggong, dilis, manitis, dalagang bukid, sapdap, bisugo, lapu lapu, tamban, tapulok, and some others that I can't name because I already forgot their names. I remember when I was a kid, we ate tulingan too and gulyasan but it change when Mommy D enter in our life. There's a lot of fish she doesn't eat and because of that I also avoid the fish that I know before like tulingan which is really good when making relyeno same with gulyasan.

Now, on the other hand, Mama can eat anything. she can eat Tulingan, Gulyasan or Purak, she even eat even those with a really long like a needle, sharp and scary nose -wait, was it the mouth that is long? Nope, I think its the head ⊙.☉, but either way, I don't eat that too but mama do. She knows a lot of fish actually while me? I only know a few. Lol. I always see her eating gulyasan and that's why I asked her today if that fish can trigger a cough because I want to eat it. She said "no." We always had chicken in the past weeks that I am seriously tired of it already.

So this is the gulyasan, it is so big, this thing here cost me 40 pesos or $0.68 in today's rate. I only bought this small because this fish is bad for Mommy F, while Mommy D doesn't really eat. So I am the only one who'll eat it. Mama is just asking for a soup so that's what i'll giving to her. And as you all can see I already massage it with rock salt and some MSG. Gulyasan according to google is a tuna, its skipjack tuna and tuna has omega 3 fatty acids which is in fighting inflammation. Its really good for my nose, I didn't know that ƪ(‾.‾“)┐

And because I am really craving for something with soup, I decided to make Kinamatisang Gulyasan with Tomato (this is a leftover actually that I bought days ago.) I will use it now before it overripe. And this is a good pampaasim for today's dish. I want a sour and lil salty kind of soup. For the veggies, I'll be using Sweet Potato Leaves.

The ingredients for this recipe is all simple and easy to gather, we'll need the tuna, salt, tomato, MSG, onion, garlic, rice water and the sweet potato leaves. We all have this in our pantry for sure, right? Except sweet potato leaves but you can use any green leafy vegetable here I think.

I am still cooking rice here so I decided to cut all the onion, garlic and tomatoes and put it on the fish. I just feel like doing it. Lol

This recipe doesn't require sauteeing or frying so let's start this immediately. I put one and half cup of Rice water in the pan, we'll all mix everything in there except the green leaves.

I'm using high heat here so I cooked the fish for 12 minutes. After that its time to put the greens.

Cooking the veggies doesn't need much time, depends on how soft you want it, 1 minutes or 2, it's all up to you. In my case I want it soft and easy to chew so I cooked it for like 2 minutes.

And it's done!

I served it while its hot and paired it with newly cooked steamed white rice. It's warm, a lil sour thanks to the tomatoes which I smashed while its boiling, the saltiness is just right and seriously, it's warm my stomach. It's a good dish for sure, its simplicity made it special and really healthy.

Interesting. Having the opportunity to eat something you’d eaten for a long time is quite okay. I love how you prepared it and I’m sure you enjoyed it, right?
