An Enjoyable Lunch with the Oldies: Sour Fish Soup Cooked with Love Using Mom's Dried Camias and Snacking on Pianono Filled with Salted Margarine

After doing all the house chores, I stayed in the garage for a bit to breath some fresh air. It's 7 am in the morning but the heat is already too much, and after the heavy rain last night too. I was busy on my phone when I saw Mama so busy on something on the empty lot. And as a certified chismosa, I went there to check on her and as I See it she's just removing something on the way. She's actually headed to the other side to harvest some Sweet Potato Leaves.

Hotsiiiiiii! Look at that, Mr. Sunny's really early. And actually, we also have sweet potato leaves in our yard. But Mama doesn't want to harvest them. And there's not much of them yet, because she just harvested some the other day. And seeing her harvesting those green leafy vegetables, I feel like buying some of it too in the market. I'm sure what Mama can harvest there wouldn't be enough for her so it's better to just buy in the market.

And so, I went to the market with mama this morning to buy ingredients for the dish that I want to make. I thought about what's good to pair with sweet potato leaves and I thought getting okra again, or maybe eggplant. But we just had them and it's not even a week ago yet, lol. Then I saw the Upo or Bottle Gourd that was sold in some stalls in the market. So I decided to just buy it. But before buying I asked Mama first if bottle gourd is good with sweet potato leaves she said yes, so here it is...

A cute size Upo or Bottle Gourd, I got it for 8 pesos. I learned that they got per piece of this for 5 pesos, so in each Upo they sold, they have 3 pesos profit. It's cute really, haha. And this is just the right size for the dish I'm about to make.

Here's the mix of Galunggong or GG and Lagidlid I bought in the wet market. Actually, these are meant for our cat only but then, look how fresh these fish are. So I chose the Lagiglid to mix with our Sinabawang Isda with Dried Camias.

Here's the two main ingredients for this recipe. I just cut the bottle gourd into small sizes, a bite size.

We'll also need onions and garlic, salt, MSG, and the Dried Camias which Mommy D dried herself.

I already clean the fish so let's proceed cooking it. In a pan, put the fish, onions, garlic, the dried camias, salt, water and the MSG together. Heat it and let it cook.

I let it boil until the fish become a little tender. I cook it for like 15 minutes. Then I remove the fish and transfer it to an empty bowl.

By the way, while waiting for the fish to be cook, I am snacking on this Pianono which we buy in the bakery near the wet market. It has sprinkled sugar on top of it and margarine as fillings. The original Pianono is like a spongy cake with Caramel as fillings, but this one is different. It is the cheap version, but it taste good too. Anyways, I only had coffee and a piece of bread this morning so, this is a good morning snack to fill my stomach.

Going back to our cooking, I then put the bottle gourd and cook it for 8 minutes. After that, I put next the sweet potato leaves and cook it for another minute.

And done! Here's our healthy Sour Fish Soup with Mommy D's dried Camias, and it has Sweet Potato Leaves and Bottle Gourd in it. Really a healthy dish for lunch. We all enjoy it, the oldies loves it too. It has right saltiness and sourness in it which make the taste even flavorful. Yum, yum! ♪ \(^ω^\ )
