Why I Love the Reach Ability So Much - Disrupt Your Opponents' Strategy with It and Amazing Battle | Splinterlands Social Media Challenge

Undoubtedly, in Splinterlands, almost all abilities can be very useful in battles when used with a good strategy, while some abilities can be much more useful in certain battles. When you use them with a good strategy, they can be very useful for your team and can also turn the strategy of your opponents upside down, even their strongest strategies. One of them is the Reach Ability, let's examine it.
Melee Attack Monsters with the Reach Ability may attack from the second position on the team and they target the enemy in the first position. One of my favorite things about the Reach Ability is that it ignores Taunt Ability, meaning even if the opposing team has Monsters with the Taunt Ability, the Monster with the Reach Ability will continue to attack the enemy in the first position, which can upset the strategy of opponents who include Taunt Ability in their strategy. All enemy Monsters in the back line target the Monster with the Taunt Ability.
Meanwhile, Monsters with the Reach Ability will have their Reach Ability disabled when they also have the Sneak Ability or Opportunity Ability due to the ruleset. Therefore, I recommend that you take this into consideration when including Reach Ability in your lineup in Equal Opportunity and Super Sneak rulesets. However, the Snipe Ability does not disable it. So in the Target Practice and Fog of War rulesets, the Reach Ability works normally.
Monsters that have both Reach Ability and Reflection Shield Ability are my favorite and I would say that having both abilities is really useful because Reach Ability can attack from the second position while Reflection Shield Ability does not take damage from Thorns or Blast. Especially in battles with the Explosive Weaponry ruleset, Units with these two abilities are very useful.
Let's examine a battle that I think would be a good example of what I said above.
- Odd Ones Out: Only Monsters with odd Mana costs may be used in battles.
- Explosive Weaponry: All Monsters have the Blast ability.
Blast Ability : Does half damage (rounded up) to Units adjacent to the target Unit.
According to the ruleset of the battle, all Monsters will have the Blast Ability, and only Monsters with odd Mana costs may be used. All Monsters will have the Blast Ability, so they will do half damage to Monsters adjacent when they hit their target. I can say that I determined my strategy accordingly.
In the first position I put Agor Longtail with Taunt, Void Armor and Flying abilities, and in the second position I put Tide Biter with Reach and Reflection Shield abilities. All enemy Monsters will target Agor Longtail. Tide Biter will both attack from the second position and prevent my team's backline from suffering, which is exactly why I love monsters with both the Reach Ability and the Reflection Shield Ability.
To be honest, the opposing player's strategy is really good. The opposing team has 3 Reflection Shield Ability, Tank Heal Ability, Heal Ability, Triage Ability (Summoner's Ability) and Resurrect Ability. Especially the level 3 Agor Longtail was not easy to destroy. Considering that Agor Longtail also has the Heal Ability, it is very difficult to destroy it, and even if it is destroyed, the Resurrect Ability would bring it back to life with 1 health. It's a really great strategy, that's exactly why I added Tide Biter with the Reach Ability to my team, because it has the abilities to disrupt such a strategy.
Indeed, the Reach Ability almost completely ruined the opposing player's plans. In the second round, Grimbardun Fighter was destroyed and the er Resurrect Ability triggered for it, bringing it back to life with 1 health. And in the third round it was destroyed for the second time. The opposing player probably didn't expect the first Grimbardun Fighter to be destroyed.
Although it was very difficult to destroy the level 3 Agor Longtail, the front lines of the opposing team were being destroyed by the effective attacks of Tide Biter and my team's Agor Longtail. Tide Biter made it easier to destroy the enemies in the first position, which turned the opposing player's strategy upside down, which is exactly why I love the Reach Ability so much.
In the fifth round, the opposing team's Agor Longtail was still alive, but all the other Monsters had been destroyed, which clearly shows how useful the Reach Ability is in this type of battle.
In the sixth round, the opposing team's Agor Longtail was also destroyed and my team was able to win the battle. My strategy worked pretty well and my team won the battle pretty easily. Especially the Reach Ability was really useful in this battle and the most interesting thing was that at the end of the battle all the Monsters in my team were still alive and even the Resurrect Ability wasn't triggered.
