Installing a lamp [Eng/Esp]

Hello friends of hive, I hope you are well. Today I want to share with you a little work I did around the house because there is always something to do or to solve.

As I had told you a few months ago the mother-in-law moved to one of the rooms downstairs for health problems and had conditioned the room and the bathroom to be more comfortable, but it was pending to place a lamp to the ceiling of the room, because it had a socate held with the same power cables and she wanted to replace it to make it look more presentable.

Hola amigos de hive, espero que se encuentren bien. Hoy les quiero compartir un pequeño trabajo que hice en la casa porque siempre hay algo por hacer o que resolver.

Como les había contado hace unos meses atrás la suegra se mudó a unos de los cuartos de la planta de abajo por problemas de salud y se había acondicionado el cuarto y el baño para que estuviera más comoda, pero estaba pendiente colocarle una lampara al techo de la habitación, porque tenía un socate sostenido con los mismos cables de corriente y ella quería sustituirlo para que se viera más presentable.

She had bought the socket a few weeks ago but I was busy with other things and had not given me a chance to change it, yesterday I was free and I got to work on it, and I took the pictures in case it is useful for you in your homes. Well the first thing I did was to turn off the switch of the light bulb so I could remove the old socket and lower the breaker of the electricity in the room to work with more security and then I removed the socket.

When I removed the socket I realized that there was a 3 inch nail inside the socket and the head of it was behind the socket and I was not going to be able to remove it, so I grabbed a pliers and tried to place it horizontally so it would not get in the way when installing the lamp.

Ella había comprado el socate hace unas semanas atrás pero estaba ocupado con otras cosas y no me había dado chance de cambiarlo, ayer estaba libre y me puse a trabajar en eso, y les tomé las fotos por si les sirve para ustedes en sus casas. Bueno lo que primero hice fue apagar el interruptor del encendido del bombillo para poder retirar el socate viejo y bajar el breaker de la electricidad de la habitación para trabajar con más seguridad y luego retiré el sócate.

Cuando retiré el socate me di cuenta que había un clavo de 3 pulgadas dentro del cajetín y la cabeza de este se encontraba por detrás del cajetín y no lo iba a poder retirar, así que agarre un alicate y trate de colocarlo de forma horizontal para que no me estorbara al momento de instalar la lámpara.

I started to check and found a cut in one of the wires, I looked for black teipe and put it on the wire. Then I kept moving the nail until I left it horizontally so I could work better.

I also noticed that in the ears of the box were some screws, I guess from an old lamp that was installed there, the head of the screws and part of its body were black and somewhat oxidized, the first thing I thought was that they were stuck to the ears and that it was going to cost me something to remove them, So I took the pliers to see if they would loosen them, when I pressed them they broke all the way to the ear, they were charred, and I had the back part of the screw stuck to the ears, then with the pliers I loosened them easily until I removed them.

Me puse a revisar y encontré un corte en uno de los cables, busque teipe negro y se lo coloque al cable. Luego seguí moviendo el clavo hasta que lo deje horizontalmente y así podía trabajar mejor.

Tambien observé que en las orejas del cajetín estaban unos tornillos, me imagino de una lámpara vieja que estuvo ahí instalada, la cabeza de los tornillos y parte de su cuerpo se encontraban negros y algo oxidados, lo primero que pensé fue que estaban pegados a las orejas y que me iba a constar algo para sacarlos, así que tomé el alicate para ver si se aflojaban, cuando los presione éstos se quebraron todo hasta la oreja, estaban carbonizados, y me quedo la parte posterior del tornillo pegado a las orejas, luego con el alicate lo fui aflojando fácilmente hasta que los retire.

The rest was simpler, I peeled the ends of the wires where the socket was installed because they were sulfated, then I peeled the ends of the wires, twisted the wires to pass through the holes of the socket of the lamp and tightened the screws, and finally I took 2 new screws and passed them through the holes of the lamp and screwed them to the ears of the socket until the lamp was well adjusted and so I finished installing the lamp in the room of the mother-in-law. I thought she was going to put another type of lamp that was more decorative but she says that when the bulb burns out it is easier to change it.

Ya lo demás fue más sencillo, piqué las puntas de los cables donde estaba instalado el socate porque estos estaban sulfatados, luego pelé las puntas de los cables, entorche los cables para poder pasarlo por los orificios del socate de la lámpara y apreté los tornillos, ya por último tome 2 tornillos nuevos y los pasé por los orificios de la lámpara y los atornille a las orejas del cajetín hasta que la lámpara quedó bien ajustada y así terminé de instalar la lámpara en el cuarto de la suegra. Yo pensé que ella iba a poner otro tipo de lámpara más decorativa pero ella dice que cuando el bombillo se quema es más fácil de cambiarlo.
