From editing videos to designing experiences, My journey in to the digital world
If someone had told me a few years ago that I’d go from editing videos in a small media house to designing user experiences and running digital campaigns, I probably would’ve laughed it off. But here I am still learning, still growing and loving the journey.
My name is Hamidu Yetunde, and this is a piece of my story
I started out working as a video editor after my service year. It was my first proper job, and I remember how excited (and nervous) I was. Sitting in front of a screen for hours, cutting clips, adjusting sound, syncing visuals,I loved how creative it felt. But deep down, I wanted more. Not more money or more praise but more impact. I wanted to create things that people could interact with, use, and truly feel.
That quiet desire led me to the world of UI/UX design. I didn’t even know what those letters stood for at first. I just stumbled on a few videos, saw some interfaces, and something in me clicked. I started learning, on YouTube, through free courses [3MTT] a Nigeria digital skills for youth empowerment, from random threads online. Some nights were frustrating, especially when nothing made sense. But I stayed with it. Slowly, it began to feel natural.
As I grew in design, I also found myself diving into digital marketing, learning how to connect with people, not just through design, but through words, strategy, and real value. It’s like two parts of the same heart: one visual, the other emotional.
This journey hasn’t been perfect. I’ve questioned myself many times. I’ve opened Figma only to stare at a blank screen for hours. I’ve launched campaigns that barely reached anyone. But every mistake has taught me something. Every small win has reminded me why I started.
One thing I’ve learned is that growth doesn’t always look glamorous. Sometimes, it’s messy. It’s slow. It’s silent. But it’s happening as long as you keep going.
That’s what led me here to Hive. A friend introduced me to this platform, and after watching quietly for a while, I decided it was time to show up. Not just as a designer or marketer, but as me. A creative, curious, purpose-driven woman with a story to tell and lessons to learn.
So if you’re reading this and you’ve ever felt unsure, stuck, or scared to start, please know that you’re not alone. Every expert was once a beginner. And every journey starts with a simple decision: to begin.
This is me beginning again this time, with more clarity, more courage, and an open heart ready to connect, learn, and grow.
Thank you for being part of my story. I can't wait to see where this journey leads with all of you along for the ride.
