Hello Ladies of Hive!

This week, our dear @alessandrawhite and @ladiesofhive pose two interesting questions.

Without going into too much detail, I'll try not to ramble and answer them in some way, perhaps even allowing me to vent and share something similar that may have happened to you.

The first question requires us to think back to when we've had to learn a new skill under intense pressure.

Thinking back, I remember a time when I worked as an operator of fuel oil generators. These are machines that operate with high-voltage electricity, close to 30,000 volts, so you can imagine how I felt on my first day, being someone who has always had respect, or rather fear, of electricity itself.

It so happened that on that occasion, while I was synchronizing the generating engines, the transformer caught fire, and I feared it was due to some mistake I had made. Imagine, here those kinds of mistakes are punishable by prison sentences, and it was something that would deeply pain me to have to endure, thinking of my children and my family. Fortunately, the fire was brought under control quickly, and it was discovered that it wasn't caused by any incompetence on my part, but rather by a malfunction in the equipment.

At the end of that day, I sighed as if I had released an age-old burden and smiled.

Regarding the second question, when have I completely misjudged someone upon first meeting them, only to later discover they were much better or much worse than I originally thought?

Well, it's happened to me. We are inevitably beings who tend to form judgments based on a first impression when meeting someone.

In my case, some time ago, someone approached me in a friendly manner. I found her intelligent, talented, and a beautiful person, but I initially resisted allowing myself to feel anything emotionally for her.

She persisted and set out to make me fall in love with her.

She carried out a series of actions over time that made me think she was undoubtedly someone worthy of my love, and I lowered my defenses, surrendered to her, offered her my naked heart completely exposed, loved her without reservation, and she hurt me.

I will never say that she is worse than I thought she would be, because what she did was her choice. All I can do is learn along the way, because that's what life is about: learning.

Esta semana, nuestra querida @alessandrawhite y @ladiesofhive nos proponen dos preguntas interesantes.

Sin extenderme mucho, trataré de no divagar y responderlas de alguna manera, de algún modo que incluso me servirá para hacer catarsis y compartir con ustedes algo que puede haberles sucedido, al menos de forma similar.

La primera interrogante nos precisa a recordar ¿cuándo hemos tenido que aprender una nueva habilidad bajo intensa presión?

Haciendo memoria, recuerdo un tiempo en que trabajé como operario de grupos electrógenos de fuel oíl. Son equipos que trabajan con electricidad de alta tensión, cerca de los 30 000 voltios, así que imagínense cómo estaba yo el primer día, siendo por demás alguien que siempre he tenido respeto, o miedo más bien, a la electricidad en sí.

Sucedió que en esa ocasión, mientras estaba sincronizando los motores de generación, el transformador se incendió y temí que fuese por algún error cometido por mí. Imaginen que acá ese tipo de errores se pagan con condenas de prisión y era algo que me dolería mucho tener que sufrir si pienso en mis hijos y mi familia. Por fortuna, el incendio se logró controlar pronto y se descubrió que no fue causado por alguna incompetencia mía, sino que fue provocado por un desperfecto del equipamiento.

Al final de ese día, suspiré como si hubiese soltado una carga milenaria y sonreí.

En relación a la segunda pregunta, ¿cuándo juzgué completamente mal a alguien al conocerle por primera vez y luego descubrí que era mucho mejor o mucho peor de lo que pensaba originalmente?

Pues me ha sucedido. Somos inevitablemente seres que tendemos a establecer juicios sobre una primera impresión al conocer a alguien.

En mi caso, hace un tiempo, aún reciente, alguien se me acercó de modo amable primero, me pareció alguien inteligente, talentosa, hermosa como persona, pero me resistí inicialmente a permitirme sentir algo emocionalmente por ella.

Ella insistió y se propuso enamorarme.

Llevó a cabo una serie de acciones en el tiempo que me hicieron pensar era una persona sin dudas merecedora de amarla y bajé mis escudos, me entregué a ella, le ofrecí mi corazón desnudo totalmente al descubierto, la amé sin reparos y me hizo daño.

No diré nunca que ella es alguien peor a lo que pensé sería, porque lo que hizo fue su decisión. Solo me queda aprender en el camino, porque la vida se trata de eso, aprender.
