Scenery during my company trip to Penang
The previous week Thursday until Sunday, I had a company kick-off and Gala Dinner for year 2023/2024. The current company I work for, the HQ, is located in Pulau Pinang or Penang.
Instead of driving from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, I opted to go by flight. I took the flight from Subang Airport, which is conveniently only 5 minutes away from my house. Along with me are two of my colleagues who also live near Subang Airport.
The flight took 1 hour and we landed at Penang International Airport at 1.30 PM. From the airport, we ordered Grab and straight away went to Amari Spice Penang Hotel. The hotel was booked by the company's HR a few months before the event.
To my surprise, my name was not on the list. I can be considered a newcomer in this current company. The HR made a mistake by not updating the list of participants. For me, it is not a big deal. I booked an outside hotel that is 1km away.
My schedule during the company trip was packed, so I could not spend much time sightseeing. I only stop by a few places in Penang that I have not visited yet.
Backalley of Georgetown's Chulia Street
On the first day, I had dinner with the Penang and Kuala Lumpur Enterprise Data Center Team. The dinner was held at Halab Restaurant. I and two other colleagues rented a car and carpooled from the hotel to the restaurant.
We parked the car not far from the restaurant. It was around 50 meters away and we needed to go through the back alley to get to the restaurant.
Penang Esplanade
On the second day, we wanted to try the famous 'Mee Goreng Sotong' (Squid Fried Noodle) for lunch at Penang Esplanade. From there, you can see historical landmarks such as Fort Cornwallis and Cenotaph War Memorial.

Before the kick-off start, I went to level 5 and took my time to enjoy the view. It was 8.30 am and the weather was bright and sunny.
Semester at the Sea
Not much that I know about this ship. I did some Google searches about it and found the below description on Wikipedia
Semester at Sea is a study-abroad program that was founded in 1963 and managed by the Institute for Shipboard Education in Fort Collins, Colorado. Colorado State University is the current academic sponsor and the program is conducted on a cruise ship. Link to Wikipedia
