Midnight Bites: Roti with Banana and Nutella at Ramkhamhaeng Night Market

Last weekend, I went for a short getaway holiday in Bangkok. I prefer to go to beaches or places with nature rather than a bustling city. But since I haven't been to Bangkok, I give this an exception.

I was in Bangkok for 3 days and 2 nights. My first day there was smooth, however, on the second day, I was scammed for almost 4000 Baht for something I could get for around 300 Baht. I take that as a lesson learned. I will not repeat the same mistake if I ever go to Bangkok again.

My friends who have been to Bangkok told me that I need to try the Roti. In Malaysia, the direct translation for Roti would be a loaf of bread. In my mind, I was wondering what's so special about a loaf of bread.

Night of the second day, I did a Google search for the Halal market in Thailand. The results mostly point to the Ramkhamhaeng Night Market. Without wasting any more time, I order a car using the Grab e-hailing app.

The journey from the hotel to Ramkhamhaeng Night Market was around 15 minutes. It is not that far, but the traffic can be considered more dense from Kuala Lumpur.

The night market has various types of items being sold from clothing, cosmetics, mobile accessories, electronics, food, and beverages. What interested me the most was the food sold at the night market.

Some of the foods I have not encountered before in Malaysia. I can also buy the food without any doubt since the majority of the sellers are Muslim. During my exploration, I came across a stall selling Roti.

Upon seeing the stall, I came to understand what my friend meant by Roti. At a glance, it is similar to our Roti Canai, but with filling and topping. After going through the menu, I decided to purchase Roti with Banana and Nutella.

I was charged 60 Baht (somewhere around MYR 8), which can be considered cheap considering the size of the Roti.

Aku biasanya sering menikmati roti bakar dengan selai strawberry, aku bisa merasakan sensasi rasa asam buah dari selai itu 😋
