The pursuit of financial stability

As a mother that I am, I have to multitask at all times because that is the thing that can help me stay active as a mother.

My mom taught me that it is very bad for a woman not to have a job to support her family and that is why I can't just be subject to being a full housewife, I was raised by a hardworking single mother so I have to be very hardworking too. Even though I am not a single mother but then there might be a time my husband would be broke and that is when I would come in to help.

Speaking of side hustle, I have done a lot of work aside from the main work I had in mind to do. Ever since I was little, my mom made me understand that having a side hustle is never a bad idea and more so I live in a country where you can't rely on one work because of how inflation keeps getting high.

Before I thought about making foodstuffs selling my main job I had acquired the tailoring knowledge which was forced on me by my mom, but I didn't like the job that much and that was why I wanted to make it my side hustle.

Main work is supposed to be the one everyone will know you with and I made sure people in my area knew me as a foodstuffs seller because I always supplied them, but then someone once asked me who always sewed clothes for me and I told her I did that by myself which is my side hustle.

She liked the clothes so much and she started giving me clothes to sew, she also told her friends about me which made me happy. I am sure some people would be thinking why can't I make the tailoring job the main job for myself, well the truth is that I don't like the job but I am good at whatever I do and that was why I knew how to sew initially.

At first, I was saving up for the shop where I would be selling the foodstuffs I wanted to stop helping people to shop in the market because that is more stressful than opening a shop. Along the line, I got a stylist job for sewing, by the woman who always sewed from me.

So I thought that would spread up my savings with anything my husband wanted to help me with.
I tried my best to keep the stylist job, but the stress was too much for me, the side hustle didn't give me time to look after my children and my family, which made my husband complain a lot.

I didn't have a choice but to quit the side hustle and face the main work I was saving up for, it didn't work out for me as a side hustle because the stress in it was more than the main job I was doing.

Now I have a shop and I had a plan of sewing ready-to-wear tops and skirts. But when I got to the market I realized that materials are too expensive to sew down without having any customer that is ready to buy it.

So I also quit the ready-to-wear ideas as well, let's just say the skills are just for me and my family because I couldn't cope with all the stress that came with the side hustle.

It's still cool, you are doing what you love and not what is stressing you. At least, it's confirmed that you are good at whatever you do 😊

I think selling foodstuff items would give you more time to spend with your family than fashion designing.
