Love isn’t enough; the need for medical capability

Sometimes, some things are better to check and some are better to let go because of tomorrow, which none of us know.

Babsed on experience I will share what I think about people who failed to check if they are compatible medically. I am still a small girl who was lucky to have a family of her own with beautiful children.

But let me say I have seen a little in life when it comes to relationships, despite being a small girl.

Sometimes we think we are in love, and that is why we can't let go, but we are wrong because love doesn't force things. If you are in love with someone, you will do anything, I mean anything, to make your loved ones happy, which includes letting them go if you guys are not compatible.

When I was in university, I had two guys disturbing me for a relationship; meanwhile, I have someone else in mind who is not even in my school. I got lucky he likes me too, so we started a relationship without checking physical, medical, and spiritual aspects because my mom makes us believe that someone can be good for you in every aspect, but such a person might be bad for you spiritually.

So we dated for a year, and when it was time for us to take the relationship to the next level, he fell sick and was taken to the hospital for treatment. That was when I discovered that he was AS just like me, but it did occur to me as a problem until his parents stood against the relationship because one of his brothers did the same, and they are paying for the price by nursing a cycle-cell child.

I didn't have a choice but to walk away for everyone to have a safe future and for the sake of love.

So if I have the chance to advise people based on this same issue, the only thing I would tell them is to let each other go for the sake of their unborn children because that mistake might affect their generation, and I am sure they wouldn't be happy to see their children falling sick here and there just because of what they should have left behind.

The only reason why I think it is necessary for people to check their medical status in a relationship before taking it to the next level, which is getting married, is that it is hurtful to see your children suffer from your mistakes.

I have a friend who refuses to let go, and now one of her children is the main problem of the marriage because no week the child doesn't fall sick to the extent that they would spend thousands of naira on him. Technically, all the money in the house is being spent on him, while he has junior ones.

It is advisable to check medically before going too deep into a relationship. It's not because of today, but because of the next generation that is about to come to life. We have to check so that those kids won't suffer from the little things we failed to do.

In everything, the unborn children should be put into consideration, imagine children suffering from the decision of their parents now that would be bad.

It still counts as love to let someone go.

You made a sound decision. Because in the end the ones who'd pay would not be you and the guy, but the children you'd bring into the world
