I guess the dropped started after XP. Vista is partly responsible for making Windows 7 have a better image in the market.
But, their system started demanding too many resources after XP.

Windows 7 was basically a necessity for 64-bit systems and greater than 4GB RAM support though. Windows XP 64-bit had poor driver support. Having said that, a better supported Win XP 64-bit would have been awesome.
Agree. The support of 64bit was a necessity. But, I have a sense that old Operating Systems have less issues than newer versions.
Especially with Windows 10 the constant updates and the bloat is so annoying. When it was first released, it ran acceptably with a mechanical hard drive and 4 GB of RAM. Today it's pretty brutal without at least 8 GB and an SSD.
Totally agree! It feels that it has a good number of bloat in it.
