The "Everything's a Satanic Ritual" Bias...
We live in odd times...
On one hand, more people are "waking up" than ever before. On the other, our cognitive biases may be stronger than ever before - with even the people claiming to be "awakened" blind to the entrapment of their consciousness in their own beliefs.
So there was this post on the "Evolving Knowledge" Instagram page, with a short video clip from a Rosalia concert.
In it, she's wearing a red dress, holding out her arms, and some guys lift her up onto a box.
The caption added to the video:
Now, I get that there are a fair amount of "satanic rituals" that take place during public performances in the mainstream entertainment industry. That's nothing to debate.
But...
At what point do people just turn off the critical thinking skills and jump to conclusions that everything must be one if there's even a tiny resemblence to their expectations of one?
Guaranteed, there's been some pretty gnarly 'satanic rituals' performed as a part of some big music artists' concerts. But this...? I get why/how some would jump to conclusions, but on what basis? People can claim anything they want, but what of substance is there to support such claims here?
Since the caption asked "what are your thoughts," I left a comment:
anything of substance to back the theory up, or just cognitive bias + dogmatic religious narrative...?
Would people be bound to get triggered? Sure. Lol. But fair question, no...?
Like clockwork, a reply came in, albeit not with an actual answer to the question...
Ah yes, the Mars-Jupiter conjunction in square to Saturn, astrologers were talking about - warning of heated debates. (And perhaps especially with topics such as these, given Jupiter's rulership over religious matters.)
I could see where the intial comment could've been taken as insulting, and how engaging further could end up only feeding further divisiveness. But for whatever reason, I felt compelled to answer. Insults were not my original intention, nor was it to argue. While I would be incredibly surprised were anyone be able to actually offer answers and it wasn't fully my intention to draw any out, but rather to make a point, I'd answer her question directly - "answers." And while she may have concluded "no one has the time," I do - for a properly balanced conversation in the spirit of "evolving knowledge," as per the page's title.
She ended up replying to mine within a minute of posting it, with a conclusive, "sorry, I'm not interested" - but oh well.
It was clear from the start she wasn't about to engage in the actual conversation nor was in any space to grok what i was getting at anyways. Maybe the lengthy answer came out for someone else that ended up in that comments section. Or... for someone here. (I've been questioning what to write & post here lately, so props to that lady for helping draw out the topic. lol. 😺)
and thus, it came:
answers. like, what SPECIFICALLY is it here?
that she’s holding her arms out, representing ‘being put on a cross…?’ but who’s to say THAT alone is “satanic” as though EVERY time ANYONE ever does a performance where they hold their arms out to get lifted onto a box is supposed to mean exactly THAT? so is the red dress in combination with that? would it be ok if it was a blue dress instead?
is it some specific body language she does AFTER being lifted onto the box? is it the way the guys around her are positioned? the angle of the lighting? was it blasphemous that she symbolically was ‘put on the cross’ but was nailed there and left to die hanging?
is it because the name “Rosalia” has some religious connotation, whereas if she was named “Samantha,” wearing a blue dress, and the light was hitting at a different angle, it’d be all innocent?
guaranteed there ARE alot of satanic performances in the entertainment world. though what makes people SO certain THIS is one?
and/or at what point will people just see dots, make their own connections, and conclude that EVERYTHING is a “satanic performance” when maybe the intentions of the artists were actually something completely different and religiously-neutral?
people seem to have the time to watch stuff and engage in one-sided narratives about how satanic everything is, yet not engage in actual two-way conversations about the REASONS upon which their conclusions are drawn…?
has anyone drawing such conclusions actually looked into Rosalia’s background and determined HER religious beliefs? WHAT IF she’s catholic and there’s an entirely different meaning to the performance? why do people so quickly just jump to their own conclusions, labelling everyone & everything in the mainstream entertainment industry as “evil?” WHAT IF all those shouting “satanic ritual” are effectively GASLIGHTING this woman by projecting their misinterpretations of her artistic performance & its intentions as such, rather than checking their own biases and keeping an open mind to alternative possibilities?
are we on this page to truly “evolve knowledge” - or have we really become a society/culture that “has no time” for anything on social media other than agreeing with trending narratives in whatever echo chambers the algorithms have put us into…? 🧐
If anyone has answers, do share. Lol.
For real.
And I mean, for all the so-called "awakened" "truthers" who share stuff like this, how many are actually asking any questions at all - versus simply accepting a new/different cult narrative at face-value, triggered into an "all entertainment industry is evil Illuminati and if someone says it's a satanic ritual it must be true omg" belief system, emotions riled up due to their programmed preconceptions, propagating baseless distorted opinions as though they're facts with nothing but dogmatic conjecture and the consensus of a herd plugged into the same belief systems to back them up?
Maybe I'm being the closed-mind arrogant one here, not being sensitive or politically-correct enough to simply flow along with the "it's gotta be a satanic ritual" narrative.
Maybe I've been possessed by "demons," that've blinded me to the ever-so-obvious "satanic ritual" staring us all in the face through that Rosalia performance, and my soul needs "saving" by "accepting Jesus Christ as my lord & savior," given how blasphemous it is to even dare question the presence of cognitive bias & dogmatic religious narrative in the online trend of labelling everything "satanic" occuring on a public stage that bears any resemblance to a cross, the color red, or whatever.
Or maybe this needs no further explanation or debate, given that if you get it, you get it.
And if not, well, then this probably just all came across a "compilation of garbage." My apologies for littering in your precious holy space. 🙃🙏
I've been going to church all my life (still do), and that wasn't even on the top five lists of places my mind would have went seeing that. People look for things they want to see whether it's true or not. It's sad.
