Permanent Exhibition Building of Aceh Museum // A four-story building full of Acehnese history and culture

Good afternoon to all my beloved hive friends ♥️

If you are someone who likes to travel to places related to history, maybe in this post you will be able to see my extraordinary experience when visiting the most historic place in the center of Banda Aceh, namely the Aceh Museum. As I have said in my previous post, in this museum area there are four main buildings and each building has its own function and history. In this post I will share some pictures from my experience when entering a building called the permanent exhibition, this building itself has four floors and each floor has a different feel. And here is a summary of each floor.

  1. On the first floor we will be able to see various endemic animals
  2. On the second floor we will be able to see the historical heritage of Aceh that seems to take us to that time
  3. On the third floor we will be able to see a brief history of the development of Aceh from time to time
  4. And finally on the fourth floor we will be able to see the richness of Acehnese culture ranging from musical instruments, traditional clothes. And I will summarize it as best I can. Enjoy

Before entering the museum building I first have to buy a ticket first, and to buy a ticket I only need to walk towards the information center building

For one ticket, it is only priced at IDR 5,000 thousand in Indonesian currency, and with this one ticket, I can enter all the buildings in the museum area, this is a very cheap price.

After getting the ticket, I immediately walked towards the permanent exhibition building, because the distance was relatively close to the location of the information center building.

As I said before, this building has four floors and I will start this exploration from the first floor. As soon as I entered, I was immediately directed by the officer in this building who also gave me directions about the stairs and the whole building, and I will start from the first floor on the left first.

This is a replica of the wild or artificial forest, and in this forest there are also many statues of endemic animals, at first I thought these animals were artificial statues, but I was so surprised when I found out that the animals here are real animals that have been preserved.

There are so many animals on display here, but I will summarize the animals here one by one. What I saw were tigers, elephants, bears, crocodiles, leopards, monitor lizards, snakes, and even white crocodiles, and in this place it is written that this is an endemic animal in Aceh.

And this is all I can see on the first floor, I am really satisfied and amazed by what I have seen, and of course this is a new experience for me.After exploring the first floor, I immediately walked to the second floor.

On the second floor I can see a painting of the most influential figure in Aceh, namely King Iskandar Muda.

This is the most famous and influential king for Aceh, because he was the one who succeeded in bringing Aceh to the peak of its glory in 1604, until now King Iskandar Muda has become one of the most influential sultanates in the history of Aceh.

And on the second floor, I can also immediately see the location and appearance of the park which is now a popular park in Banda Aceh, namely Bustanussalatin Park.

And what is even more amazing is that on the second floor we can see historical relics of Aceh, starting from currency, long-distance communication tools, to traditional Acehnese weapons.

  1. We will start with the currency first, the currency of Aceh is the dirham, but I don't really understand this currency because when I was born, this currency was no longer valid in Aceh.

  1. This is a letter box used by royal envoys to put letters presented to the kingdoms they visited. This letter box comes from European kingdoms that visited Aceh.

  1. And this is a traditional Acehnese weapon and has been known since the founding of the Aceh Sultanate. This weapon is called Rencong Meupucok and this weapon is made of brass, suasa, silver, wood and iron.

  1. And this is a painting of the Bustanussalatin park during the reign of the Sultanate of Iskandar Muda

  1. And this is the dress worn by the King. This dress is made of silk and has additional calligraphy on it. The surface and ends of the sleeves are decorated with gold thread embroidery with various motifs.

  1. Replica of the tomb of Nahrasyiah binti Sultan Zainal Abidin, this tomb is a replica made of marble, and is the most beautiful tomb in Southeast Asia.

I convey the information that I get from writings or information provided by museum officers, this makes my insight more open and aware of the importance of studying history.

And this is all I could find on the second floor, so after exploring the entire second floor, I immediately decided to go up to the third floor.

On the third floor, I can see the developments that have occurred, especially in the government sector, but to be honest, I don't really understand this history, so seeing, learning and continuing to learn is the solution.

And on the 3rd floor I can also see a complete display of traditional Acehnese weapons.

And also paintings and pictures of Acehnese heroes

*On this floor we can see the history of the development of Aceh, traditional weapons, to the history of Acehnese heroes, but of course I can't tell it completely here, because it is related to several other countries. Now let's return to focus on my visit to this museum and my exploration of several buildings in this place.

And there is only one more floor left, namely the 4th floor

On the fourth floor we will be able to see the richness of Acehnese culture, starting from traditional clothing from each region, to musical instruments.

I don't know which region this traditional dress is from, because there is no writing or markings that I can read, but this traditional dress looks very elegant with its black color, and several items such as plates, frying pans, ladles, are made of silver, it is truly extraordinary.

  1. But now let's look at Aceh Gayo traditional clothes

  1. Traditional clothes of Aceh Tamiang

  1. Traditional clothes of Aceh Alas

  1. Simeulu traditional clothes

  1. Traditional clothing of the Aneuk Jame ethnic group

  1. Kluet ethnic traditional clothes

  1. And this is a traditional musical instrument

This is what I managed to capture on the third floor, and it was truly amazing. And this was also the last floor I could climb. After feeling satisfied I immediately forced myself to go down.

I immediately went down the stairs, and I thought the fourth floor was the last historical place I could see in this building, but suddenly I was amazed because I saw a room with light behind the dark stairs, and it turned out that when I went down, I managed to find a room that was a place to display spices.

As soon as I entered this room, my nose immediately felt comfortable because the aroma of the spices was immediately smelled. As we know, Indonesia is a country rich in spices, and in this room I can see all the spices completely.

I don't really understand what spices are, but the aroma in this room makes me feel very relaxed, the aroma of turmeric, onions, chilies, cinnamon, the aroma is really strong, making me feel very at home in this room.

After being satisfied with seeing and capturing some of the uniqueness of this room, I immediately left the room and walked to visit other buildings. Of course, my visit to this museum made me know several things that I didn't know before, and my experience increased, it was truly extraordinary.

Well, those are some pictures and stories from me in this post, I really hope that this post can provide entertainment for all of my friends. All of these pictures are purely my own, I took this picture using an Infinix 10 Pro cellphone and edited this picture using the Lightroom application.

See you again in my next post ♥️
