HOLIDAY TO SABANG // The beginning of the journey to tropical tourism paradise

On January 30 2026, I was finally able to realize my dream of having a vacation to the city of Sabang. It should be noted that Sabang is a city in Aceh province located at the westernmost tip of Indonesia and is famous for its iconic Kilometer Zero Monument,sabang is a separate island and to get there,we can only go by sea or air, there is no highway to get there.

In the morning, my 3 friends and I went straight to Ulee Lheue harbor to book boat tickets. There were two options there, namely the ferry or the express boat. At that time, we chose to book ferry or slow boat tickets.

Actually, morning is the best time to leave for Sabang, but at that time we chose to buy tickets for a boat that sailed in the afternoon because we still wanted to spend time in the city of Banda Aceh.We spent half a day touring and visiting various tourist destinations around the city of Banda Aceh and exactly at 4 pm we chose to return to the harbor.

After taking care of all the administration and checking in on time, we were finally directed to the ferry that was ready there. The ship we were on at that time was called KMP.AcehHebat2, a passenger ship owned by the Aceh Government that operates the regular crossing route Ulee Lheue (Banda Aceh) - Balohan (Sabang).

This is a large ship that can transport passengers, vehicles and logistics, from Ulee Lheue port this ship takes about 1 hour 20 minutes to arrive at Balohan port, this is the normal time, but if we want to get there quickly then we can choose to take a fast boat (Express).

If I'm not mistaken, this ship has three main floors, at that time we chose to sit on the seats at the very top, namely the 3rd floor, from the 3rd floor I had the opportunity to see a wider and clearer view, every moment that happened felt new to me because this was the first time I had boarded this big ship and sailed to Sabang

From the 3rd floor, I can also see the vast expanse of Ulee Lheue's natural beauty, which is quite stunning, starting from the big river, river estuary to tourist destinations that line the beach, as well as the activities of people with their various activities.

There are many ships parked at this port, from large ships to small ships. I have been waiting for 30 minutes on this ship until finally the ship's engine started to sound loud and the ship started to move, which indicated that this holiday was about to begin.

When the ship started moving, I could immediately feel a new and unfamiliar atmosphere, I held back my curiosity and impatience to arrive at Sabang port.

Today, at this very second and while I am writing this post, I am still in Sabang, I plan to have a holiday of about three days here, I want to explore Sabang as much as I can, even though it is not 100%, but I have to try to get to 70%.I will try and be sure there will be interesting posts in the future about my holiday in Sabang.
