Bruny Time! Camp at Cloudy Bay

I adore Bruny Island. We had been waiting a good solid week to go there but the ferry - which only takes about ten minutes - was working overtime with the Christmas crowds, and it was a three hour wait to get on. Waiting til everyone had gone back to work was a good idea. We drove straight down to Cloudy Bay, where we have been a number of times before.

By drive, I mean drive along the beach. It takes 45 minutes from the ferry to get there and you can either stay in the free camp closest to the surf break or drive a few kilometers down the beach to the National Park camp which is gorgeous. We landed an ocean view - the best spot in camp!

Even a pademelon came to say g'day. I mean it doesn't get better than that for $10 a night. In the morning we took the Defender onto the beach to make breakfast (eggy bread and tomatoes and capers) and take some media for promotion of the awning that we got heavily discounted in return for some Instagram content.

I'm glad no one was around as I felt like a wanker taking photos of the truck all laid out like that haha.

We also swam in the cold bay - it's truly magical to swim there. It's a very calm corner and safe. Sometimes you see sting rays and a few people were going out in small boats to check their lobster pots. One guy brought in a huge fella with his little kids.

Even Jamie has started swimming with me which is awesome. It does wake us up and makes us feel better.

There were big black tail cockatoos, kookaburras, sooty oystercatchers, small wallabies, seagulls, and thankfully no snakes which do hang out there. I guess it's been to busy for them.

One thing that does keep the crowds down is people's reluctance to drive their caravans on the beach or the fact they can't in a hire van. We enjoyed a really peaceful few days there and to be honest wish I'd stayed longer, but we had run out of food and water.

With Love,

Check out the influencer taking photos of their camping rig but to be fair, it's an impressive rig, even if you would 'look like a wanker' taking photos of it haha!

Looks like an awesome place to enjoy a few days !SLOTH. When I got my campervan, I always imagined I'd be taking photos like that myself, but there are only a few days in the summer when that's possible here!

Ah, that's a shame.

It does feel wanky but actually Insta has been great to meet people all round the world with Landies, which has been amazing as we have visited some and vice versa. We haven't met many true Landie people we don't like . They usually like adventure but also practical things - they fix ham radios, build tiny houses, build other crazy vehicles, like nature, and so on.

And the other thing is we get free products sometimes! Companies message and offer them to us as they get free advertising as we drive around... Like this awning, and a dash cam, the rear wheel trash bag.

So it's wanky but has its benefits haha

Ooohhh free wanky stuff? Now I might have to take advantage of the odd bit sunshine here and snap some photos of my van sitting on a hill or something. Need a new awning haha!

Yeah the community of stealth campers is an fun bunch even if most are a little eccentric. That only adds to the adventure!

Ha yes well I've been doing it all my life so I have some tricks. We have just moved up in the world having a rig like this!

It's so great! So proud of him. Now he is even stripping the wetty half mast after he gets used to it and I get some eye candy so it's a win win 😜

Hello! Thank you very much for posting on the Worldmappin Community. We would like to remind you that one of the rules of our community is to pin your post to our map. This will give your post more reach, as well as have the chance to be featured in our daily Travel Digest 😃.

Quick guide on how to do it.

1 - Go to https://worldmappin.com

2 - Find the location of your publication on the map, you can do this by scrolling on the map or using the search bar.

3 - Click on the GET CODE button and then click on the exact location of your publication: a code snippet will be generated.

4 - Copy the code and paste it into the draft of your Hive post. Then publish it :)

The code will be invisible in your post, but a few minutes after publishing you will receive a comment informing you that your post has been added to the map.

Or you can directly pin your post to the map via PeakD. After drafting your post, click the map icon at the bottom. It's beside "Short preview description" and above the "Advanced" icon.

We suggest you read all the rules of our community here.

For any other questions, don't hesitate to contact our team on our Discord channel.

Cheers!

I honestly don't know what's happening here. Each time I've pinned it and then when it publishes it disappears. Do you think it's to do with post scheduling?

Can be. We heard that sometimes there is a problem when scheduling and putting in location via peakd. - Try to get the code from worldmappin.com and put it in the post when scheduling. Like that, you can be sure it won´t disappear.
