Weekend engagement: WEEK 263-What would you say you are brilliant at doing? Speaking and sewing: my too passions

When I think about what I’m really good at, two things stand out- speaking and sewing clothes. These are not just things I do; they are things I love, and I’m proud to say I do them well.

Let me start with oratory. The ability to speak in front of people. From a young age, I noticed that I could talk to people in a way that makes them feel something. I may not always be prepared, but once I start talking, it just flows. Whether I’m speaking to one person or a group, I always try to say something that lights a fire inside them. I love to encourage people, to let them see that they can start something new, chase a dream, or believe in themselves again.

People see that in me, and that’s why I’m often called upon to say something even when it’s not planned. It happens at events, gatherings, and especially in church. I’ve been given the chance to speak or address people in church many times, and each time, I try to give my best. The claps and smiles I get afterward show me that I’m doing something right. These experiences have shaped me and helped me grow. The more I speak, the more confident I become, and the better I get at it.

The second thing I’m brilliant at is sewing and fashion designing. This is something I’ve always loved. So when I finally got the chance to learn it, I didn’t waste time. I gave it my full focus. It didn’t feel like hard work, it felt like something I was born to do. In less than a year, I could sew beautiful clothes for myself and for others.

Now, I’ve reached a point where people see my work and immediately ask, “Who made this?” I’ve become so good at it that I have more customers than I can even handle sometimes. People trust me with their special occasions- marriages, parties, church clothes, and more. I take pride in every stitch, every style, and every smile my work brings to someone’s face.

These two gifts- speaking and sewing, mean so much to me. They bring me joy, they bring me income, and most of all, they let me touch lives in different ways. One through words, the other through fabric. I don’t take them for granted at all.
They are both answers to prayer and dreams come true. I believe God gave me these gifts, and I’m doing my best to use them well.
