The Man Who Was Punished for Credibility
Officer Dangana was known for one rare quality- credibility. While other officers took bribes, harassed motorists, and looked the other way when crimes happened, Dangana stood firm. He believed in honesty and discipline.
But his integrity made him unpopular among his colleagues. His presence made others uncomfortable. So, to get him out of the way, they transferred him to a remote village, far from the city where freely.
Life in the village was hard. The station had no car, poor communication, and hardly any support. Still, Dangana worked with his heart, settling disputes, catching petty thieves, and earning the villagers’ respect. His uniform was worn out, his boots cracked, but his conscience was clean.
At home, his wife remained his strength. Every night, she prayed with their children: “God, remember your servant. Let this struggle not be in vain.”
Then one day, a new DPO was posted to the city division. Known for discipline, his first request shocked everyone: “I need a second-in-command, not a friend, not a loyalist, but a man with credibility.”
Silence filled the room. Then, someone quietly mentioned Dangana.
Without delay, a message was sent. When Dangana arrived, dusty and tired, the DPO stood, shook his hand, and said, “You are the kind of officer I need.”
His tattered uniform was replaced with a new one. He got a proper house and respect he never received before.
Dangana’s story became a lesson to other police officers: credibility may delay rewards, but it never goes unnoticed forever.
