In celebration of the 5th anniversary of the Hive blockchain network, in the anniversary celebration post, several events were added to collect tickets that will count as an entry in the Hive5 Raffle that will have a pool of 500HBD divided among 5 winners. These events were created to motivate the community to participate and engage, one of them having the objective of talking about a project that the user likes the most in Hive with the prize of 10 tickets.

So, since I like web3 games and create posts and content about them, I decided to talk about the biggest one in Hive, Splinterlands. Let's try to understand a little more about it and go through the history of this NFT game. What's interesting about Splinterlands is precisely its origin, because it tells a lot about the founders' vision for the project. Frustrated with web2 card games, in which companies owned the cards and other assets that players collected throughout their journey with hours of gameplay, the concept of blockchain emerged to solve this issue.

Another great difference in Splinterlands is its game mechanics. In a modern world, where time is increasingly scarce, traditional Web2 card games that depend on long turns for the player to build their strategy end up being forgotten and become niche. With this in mind, Splinterlands focuses on the draft system, in which the focus is to choose the best combination to compose your team according to the mana limitations, elements and rules of each match. However, this system can end up becoming “tiring”, so new rules, game modes and mechanics are constantly added to make the game fun.

Unlike what usually happens with Web3 games that emerge and end up closing their doors after a crisis in the crypto market, Splinterlands, like Hive, have been in operation for years. In the case of Splinterlands, it emerged in 2018 and has already faced several bear markets, surviving each one and reinventing itself, changing its economy to adapt to new times.

With a noble vision of giving players ownership of their assets and giving value to their time by rewarding them with SPS/Glint tokens, there was a need for a blockchain network that had ideals and was capable of serving as the foundation for Splinterlands. After this proposal, Splinterlands seems to have joined Hive stronger than ever by adding “Powered by Hive” to its website. It’s worth to remember that this is good for both, since with the arrival of new players to Splinterlands, they will need to create an account on Hive and thus the network will increase its number of users, repeating what happened during the Game's Hype period.

In a recent Splinterlands Town Hall, the company that will work on the game's marketing was announced. Some changes to support the arrival of new players are already being made, including: Renting cards in Sets to facilitate access, adding an Ambassador system, creating help pages called Academy spread throughout the game, and revamping the game's image and design to make it more modern.

With all these and more updates that the game has undergone, if everything goes well and the Marketing Campaign is a success, we could see a massive influx of new users into Splinterlands and Hive. Outro grande diferencial do Splinterlands é a sua mecânica de jogo. Em um mundo moderno, onde o tempo está cada vez mais escasso, jogos tradicionais de cartas Web2 que dependem de turnos longos para o jogador montar sua estratégia, acabam sendo esquecidos e se tornam nichados. Pensando nisso, Splinterlands foca no sistema de draft, em que o foco é escolher a melhor combinação para compor o seu time conforme as limitações de mana, elementos e regras de cada partida. Nisso, surge a parceria entre Splinterlands e Hive que muitas vezes acabam por se confundir já que o Splinterlands é o jogo principal da Hive e também já atraiu muitos usuários para a rede blockchain, mas sem a Hive funcionando com as suas características talvez o jogo não fosse capaz de existe da maneira atual.

A Hive é resumida muitas vezes em 3 palavras, mas eu gosto de usar a palavra Community em vez de Seamless. Assim, a rede é FAST porque suas transações são validades em 3 segundos. Ela é Feeless, porque diferente de outras redes em que o usuários gasta alguns dólares por transação na Hive, ao colocar em Stake o token da rede (Hive) ele se torna HP e gera resource credits que são usados para realizar as transações e se “regenerão” com o tempo. Por fim, o grande diferencial da rede é ser descentralizada e ao mesmo unida em sua Comunidade, seja ao jogar os jogos da rede ou em criar posts existe sempre o senso de união em todos os usuários da Hive. Esse conjunto de característica não é visto em outras redes blockchain.

A parceria entre Hive e Splinterlands acabou se tornando mais evidente depois que a Proposta de Marketing passou, dando uma verba vinda do DHF da hive para que o Splinterlands conseguisse fazer o seu Marketing e atrair novos jogadores. Depois dessa proposta, o Splinterlands parece ter se junto mais forte que nunca à Hive adicionando no seu site o “Powered by Hive”. Vale lembrar que isso é bom para ambos, já que com a chegada de novos jogadores para o Splinterlands, eles devem precisar criar uma conta na Hive e assim a rede aumenta o seu número de usuários, repetindo o que aconteceu durante o período de Hype do Jogo.

Em um Town Hall recente do Splinterlands foi divulgado a empresa que vai trabalhar no marketing do jogo. Algumas mudanças para suportar a chegada de novos jogadores já está sendo feita, dentre elas: Aluguel de cartas em Sets, para facilitar o acesso, adição de um sistema de Ambassador, criação de páginas de ajuda chamadas de Academy espalhadas pelo jogo e uma renovação na imagem e design do jogo para deixá-lo mais moderno.

Com todas essas e mais atualização que o jogo tem passado, se tudo der certo e a Campanha de Marketing for um sucesso, poderemos uma chegada massiva de novos usuários no Splinterlands e na Hive. Esse pode ser o momento dessa parceria gerar resultados tanto aguardados e fazer com que mais pessoas entendam a importância e a utilidade das redes web3, que permitem dentre tantas coisas o verdadeiro Ownership de ativos nos jogos.
