The authorities have a fundamental role in this process. First and foremost, they must guarantee the whistleblower's anonymity whenever possible. Knowing that your identity will be protected can make all the difference. Furthermore, there should be clear laws preventing any kind of retaliation, whether at work or in personal life.

Another important point is support after the report. Often, the whistleblower is left alone, dealing with stress, anxiety, and insecurity. Psychological support and legal guidance should be part of the process, not a rare privilege.

However, it is also necessary to ensure that the reports are genuine. False accusations can destroy reputations and cause irreversible damage. Therefore, all reports should be investigated carefully, fairly, and impartially. Evidence should be analyzed, and no conclusions should be drawn hastily.

I also consider it important that there are consequences for those who report in bad faith. This should not serve to scare honest whistleblowers, but to protect the system and the people involved.

Whether I would report or not would depend a lot on the circumstances and existing guarantees. What I know is that no one should be forced to choose between doing the right thing and protecting their own life. Creating safe, humane, and fair systems is the first step for reporting to fulfill its true role.
I also think that talking about this topic is important. Many people have never seriously reflected on reporting until they face a real situation. Debating, listening to different opinions, and sharing experiences helps reduce fear and misinformation. The clearer the information, the greater the confidence in the process.
