EVERGREEN FAMILY DEVOTION //TUESDAY 6TH, AUGUST 2024
π·πTOPIC:
WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART?
πBIBLE TEXT:
But when envoys were sent by the rulers of Babylon to ask him about the miraculous sign that had occurred in the land, God left him to test him and to know everything that was in his heart (2 Chronicles 32:31).
ππKEY VERSE:
O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things?
for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh (Matthew 12:34).
β€οΈCONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
All your activities notwithstanding, what God is interested in is the content of your heart.
βοΈINTRODUCTION:
The heart is the controlling hub of the body. When the Bible talks about the heart β€οΈ it is talking about central site where everything in the body is interpreted. The brain functions to such effect more than the heart which distributes the blood to all the organs and systems in the body.
WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART?
π₯ποΈMAIN DISCOURSE:
You speak to your fellow man with your lips, but communicate with God in your heart. This is why God often speaks to your heart.
All your actions and activities are conceived of in your heart.
Following the text for today, God withdrew from King Hezekiah just in order to determine the content of his heart.
Imagine what might happened after that? God got His answers concerning the king. You can hide your thoughts from men by telling them what you want them to hear. But God reads your thoughts like a written letter.
The question this morning is: what is in your heart? That which God finds in your heart determines how He responds to you.
If God opens your heart now, will His discovery strengthen His relationship with you, or will it dampen His trust in you?
Like David, can you cry out to God to search your heart and remove whatever doesn't give Him pleasure in your life?
