What do Government Enforcers think about Crypto...?

Chain analysis recently conducted a survey with government employees mainly in the U.S. (some in Canada) to assess their attitudes towards cryptocurrency.

Most of the respondents worked in investigation and analysis in enforcement agencies at the local or federal level...

Given the current climate around crypto, I guess it's worth knowing what the guys responsible for enforcing it think about it - I mean it's likely to have an impact on how vociferously they prosecute people going forwards if it comes to that....

The respondents seem to be pro-crypto....

They're aware that crypto isn't purely a 'criminal thing', they think it's valid, will be mass-adopted and trustworthy....

And this is based on a high level of assessment of their own knowledge...

However they don't think other people are clued up...

Only 25% of them think their colleagues are well equipped to deal with investigating crypto crimes!

The problem... only a 7% response rate...!

I kind of wish I'd read the methodology first in more depth - this was all based on an online survey which yielded a 7% response rate...

Although this maybe tells us something... a small section of these people already know about and probably own crypto themselves, that sounds about right, and some of these, 7% of the total, responded!

The rest don't really give a toss, so crypto probably isn't even on their radar, I imagine they've got much bigger fish to fry!

I think the general public have mixed messages about crypto. They will hear about some people getting rich off it, but also whenever there is a scam or a hack. What you don't hear is about people just getting on with making a few bucks and building new economies, as happens on Hive. That is obviously not big news. You will get some folk who think it's all scams and that is unfortunate.

That's a fair point - crypto as a side hustle is probably where it's at for the majority of people but as you say not newsworthy! Also I'm happier being under the radar safer that way!

Great post @revisesociology.
Well, since it is government related, you don't expect them to use crypto like normal citizens, maybe some government sectors might have rules regarding use of crypto which their employees must follow.

Every thing just seems cr*zy!!!.

The government of Pakistan has not yet understood the specifics of this industry, due to which it is not legal in Pakistan. If they had understood this thing then, in 2013, all the debt of Pakistan would have been eliminated and Pakistan could have become a prosperous country.

I didn't realise it was illegal in Pakistan!

No, it is not illegal in Pakistan. Our national identity card is attached with Binance and we can cash out with p2p legally. Calling crypto a grey area is the right word then calling it illegal in Pakistan.

The truth is that they know the potentiality of cryptocurrency but they are stopping us from using it because they know that it will provide us financial freedom
