The average UK stag do now costs £780 per person!

The average cost of stag and hen parties have increased dramatically according to some recent research by Aviva

The cost is now £780 at home or £1200 abroad, per person.....

Interestingly the costs are spread across all of the usual things you'd associate with such events, rather than being significantly skewed towards travel and accommodation. Although these are the most expensive, they aren't stand-out stand-alone massive contributors to the overall totals, suggesting most people are cautious enough to go for budget options...

And I guess the abroad costs are higher mainly because you're likely to stay an extra day or two given the time involved with getting there and back.

More than a third have not attended such an event because of the cost, although some might use this an excuse to event dodge, which is kind of handy I guess!

On average people in the UK have been on three of these events in the last decade, meaning a total average spend of just over £2500 per person over ten years (only 15% of dos are abroad, which will bring the average cost a lot closer to the UK figure).

Overall that's only around £20 a month to budget for these events, and I guess as they so rare and celebrating significant life-milestones, even frugal old me would say such things are worth saving up for.

I mean, how many times in your life do you get married, after all?

Two, or maybe three times!

Come to think of it there must be a few people in there that have been to the SAME persons different stag or hen dos three times, that must be an experience!

The third time around must be proper parties lol. Kind of scary how much things have risen over the last decade or so as I have kind of lost touch with the UK prices.

It is pricey, I guess you just have to treat these things like yer holiday, or one of them!

I like hen. We Americans are so dull, derivatively calling them stagette or bachelorette.

I've not been to a stag do in a long while and those I went to were not so fancy. One involved an evening at a country pub where we just camped for the night in the garden. I think these things can get competitive. I have seen plenty of hen nights out and about on my travels. I wonder how many people do things they regret.
