Shoenomics...

I bought a relatively cheap pair of work shoes about 18 months ago now.

They weren't cheap cheap, rather cheap for what seamed to be pretty good quality at the time....

Soft black leather, very comfortable, a nice bit of stitching on the sole - and only £65 - with a bit of a reduction in a sale.

My previous go-to option for generic black work shoes had been DMs but the last pair I bought must have been back in 2016...

I might be misremembering but I'm sure they cost around the £65 back then? For the basic shoes that is.

But when I looked online a couple of years ago I couldn't believe the price!!! £140! Granted some other colours are half price in the sale, but I've NEVER seen black DMs on sale.

Hence why I shopped around for the cheaper option...

Worth it...?

The thing liked about DM shoes was that a pair would last you a couple of years with no need to repair them.

Eventually in my experience the leather would split somewhere and they'd be done. his may actually have been because I'd been wearing half a size too small, on reflection, my current shoes are a half size larger.

The DM soles lasted longer than the uppers. I guess that's what you're paying for. T

Compared to my current shoes..

I was initially disappointed that the heals wore down after about only 4 months, WTF! I had to get them re-healed, £20.

But at the same time I bought some cheap plastic blakies and nailed these on, I've since got through two sets of these over another year of wear and they and the second set of heals are just fine.

The main soles have also lasted out well, no sign of wearing, and no sign of the uppers cracking.

Oh the sole did peal away from the main body: superglue sorted this out no problem.

Final thoughts...

Well 18 months in and i have to add about £10 to my purchase cost - the unnecessary re-heal was a mistake I won't repeat so I'm discounting that... the £10 covers the glue (which can be used elsewhere) and the cheap heal things.

So that's £70 for 18 months worth of shoes.

Come to think of it I remember it taking DMs about a month to break in, the backs especially are really hard to start with and they rub the back of your ankle raw, no such problem with my softer, budget, but probably going to be as long lasting shoes!

Soft insoles make them better. As for the shoes, I would say better quality is a one time investment as opposed to buying cheaper ones with lesser than usual lifetime validity 😀😁

There used to be a shop in my home town that sold 'seconds' from DM and Levi's as well as army surplus. I bought a lot of shoes there. Current DMs can be expensive and most of their shoes are made abroad now. I've got a pair that rubbed my ankles and still need more wearing in. I may give them another chance.

My current work shoes are some smart Sketchers from the outlet place in Portsmouth. I bought some Timberland boots there too. Of course I will generally spend more on running shoes that become casual shoes when they lose their bounce.

Ah so it's not just me with DMs rubbing - they do start out stiff! I love reusing my old trainers for just day to day footwear... I'm due a new pair soon too!

Lol nice one .... I have one pair or those black clasics and they are probably more than five years old, but I'm wearing them like few times per year .... they are just peaking up dust, and getting old from time itself :)

I did factor in how often one wears them! Always worth having a pair of smart use.

A friend of mine left me some Adidas Samba 5 years ago. They were exactly my size, so I was happy. I wear them every day to the gym - they still work great. But only because I have a new sol attached to it every couple of years. It only costs 30$ here to do so.

One of the things in Ecuador is that labor is so cheap, that repairing everything actually makes sense. You don't get that in most industrialized countries.

DM = Doc Martins?

At school only the hard lads wore these. If you crossed a Doc Martin wearer then you were gonna have your 'head kicked in'..

I was never evolved enough to wear cherry reds! I get imposter syndrome enough just with black dm shoes!

@themarkymark: Your Scam Farm Empire with @buildawhale Exposed—When Will You Stop Destroying Hive?”

Meta Description:
Bilpcoin uncovers @themarkymark’s abuse of Hive’s reward system through @buildawhale’s scam farm. The evidence shows years of corruption funded by @blocktrades’ delegations.

To @themarkymark:

You’ve had years to change your ways, yet you continue to exploit Hive’s reward system. Let’s break it down:

1. The Evidence Against You

The blockchain doesn’t lie. Here’s how you’ve been abusing Hive:

a. @buildawhale’s Daily Grift

  • Curation Rewards from Spam Posts:
Over the past 2 hours, @buildawhale generated over 270 HP for spam posts like this.

  • Total Power:
2.4M HP delegated from @blocktrades97% borrowed, not earned. Wallet Proof.

b. Self-Voting and Alt Abuse

c. Years of Corruption:

From vote selling to scam farming, your abuse has gone unchecked.

2. @blocktrades’ Role in Enabling Scams

Why does @blocktrades delegate 2.3M HP to @buildawhale?

  • Delegation Breakdown:
  • Impact on Hive:
These delegations fund spam farms, centralize power, and steal rewards from creators.

3. The Hypocrisy: “Spam Fighter” vs. Scam Farmer

You claim to care about Hive, yet:

  • Enable Scam Farms: @buildawhale floods the blockchain with spam comments.
  • Exploit Poor Users: Use vulnerable creators to promote Hive while silencing critics.
  • Contribute Nothing: Your posts lack substance, yet you attack those exposing corruption.

The Irony:
You lecture about morality while enabling scams. Transactions don’t lie—you’re part of the problem.

4. The Community’s Wake-Up Call

Hive’s integrity is at stake. Every curation reward from @buildawhale’s bot votes:

  • Steals from creators.
  • Centralizes power.
  • Normalizes abuse.

Action Steps:

  1. Audit the Scam: Check @buildawhale’s activity log for spam comments.
  2. Demand Accountability: Ask @blocktrades why he funds scam farms.
  3. Spread Awareness: Share this post and tag honest users.

Final Message to @themarkymark:

Keep pretending you care about Hive while enabling and operating scam farms. The blockchain has already recorded:

The Truth Hurts:
You’re a puppet for scam farms. We’re here to fight for Hive’s integrity.

#HiveBlockchain #ScamFarmsExposed #DownvoteCartel #Bilpcoin #BlockchainTruth

Transactions don’t lie. The evidence is here—investigate it.

Sincerely,
The Bilpcoin Team
