In two minds....

So I woke up a few days ago intending to fix my scraped up car door....

NB that's not the first and it won't be the last time you see that picture!

I got all the materials out ready, read the instructions through, but when it came to the filler I found no hardening additive...

Arghh... obviously that's the first thing I need, well after clean quick sand clean again....

Inefficiency...?

I had my belligerent head on so I got on my running gear and headed straight to Halfords (driving at 8.15 no!) to get a refund/ replacement-

I had a moment en route when I paused wondering if this was efficient or not - maybe Amazon would have been better but no I wanted a run anyway and when I got there they were like 'oops and just got me a spare tube out of the draw next to the till - obviously this happens a lot....

On the way back I took stock of the wind and decided to not spray the car today after all, and the chance of rain overnight...

After all that I didn't even need to spend an hour running to and from Halfords to get that particular item.

But then I just NEEDED to get this little job out of the way IMMEDIATELY.

In two minds...?

Well I was defo in two minds initially... it felt a bit nuts to be running to Halfords (again) at 8.00 in the morning in the midst of all that 'going to school and work' kerfuffle.

But at the end of the day what else could I do....? I mean I needed filler (*) and the only way I was going to get that was by making this trip, if I'd have got the stuff elsewhere I would have had to right off my £10 initial outlay, but then again maybe that would have been more rational - I spent an hour going back and forth to get this....

But what did it for me finally.... I actually kind of fancied a run anyway, and that route lended itself to an 8K which is roughly what I wanted and so this made sense, double dipping!

Postcript....

I never used the damned filler anyway, but more on that later!

If you managed to combine a run with an errand then that counts as a win. Driving at peak times tends to be a nightmare. I'm happy that I drive a lot less now. I can get the train to work, but then we're allowed to work from home a few days each week. That's something that changed with COVID.

Working from home = a real time saver too glad you don't have to drive very much!

That will need a bit of buffing lol. One of our work cars had similar type of damage to what you have and we found a replacement door at the scrap yard. Looking forward to an update to see how you got on.

At least you got the 8K in.

Extra trips, they are a pain. I'm all too familiar with them myself.
