Allotment Update: ButterNut Squash Harvest!

avatar

Well it's now late October and the last couple of weeks have been all about the ButterNut squash.

I think I've done pretty well over all:

This was the squash patch about 10 days back, back in sunnier times! You can see some of them just under the leaves!

And closer up...

And I picked a couple this weekend just gone:

That gives you an idea of the scale.

I've only got three this size in total, and then another three smaller ones.

But that is A LOT of squash for one person.

I mean one of these bad boys will keep me in squash for a week! I'm thinking maybe cut half a one up into chunks, and it's a couple of roast dinners and some soup,

And that'll keep me going to the end of the year, no problem at all!

The squash are my biggest win of the year hands down on the plot, taking up half a bed and well worth it, and requiring almost no effort!

I may even do a whole bed next year, with a greater variety, but for now it's time to enjoy some of this year's harvest, for sure!

Nice one. I have one in the fridge and thinking to roast it or maybe the wide will make a soup! Perfect for the rain and cold we have now.

You have an abundance of squash you harvested. What could be your recipe for your squash? Or your squash menu. Squash is good for our bodies it is nutritious and good for the eyes. My favorite squash recipe is a squash soup with coconut milk and I put shrimps. It is a very delicious meal and perfect during the rainy season.🙋🙋

Think I'll have to go for a variety of soups, coconut milk option is a good one for sure!

Cheers!

We've grown some squash before. You can end up with far more than you need, but they keep fairly well. You'll have to get inventive on what you do with them.

I was thinking the same that they keep pretty well.
They go well with all sorts of things and the dogs like them too.

The fresh vegetable that man grows in his own fields has its own pleasure to eat and the fresh vegetable is very good for health as we see that a lot of hard work is done.
