Allotment Planning Spring 2024
I've just put together a rough outline of my allotment plan...
I did this using the crop rotation planner from this website here.
Not sure if it follows on from what I grew where last season, but something different is growing in every section!
I've opted for EASY and DIRECT for the most part on the allotment and the sowing times above are from memory, I'm 90% certain I've got it about right.....
It feels fairly narrow but I am growing still 14 different crops, which is quite a variety, and everything I am likely to eat and so I think this is a win!
BED 1: BEANS AND PEAS....
Four different types - runners, later, broad beans NOW, and green beans in April, and then Peas in March too, not too bothered about the later, they will need netting!
BED 2: GREENS AND BRASSICAS
Mainly Spinach in two separate waves, probably perpetual so it keeps on coming! I may swap out the broccoli for more kale, I love kale!
Fruiting veg...
Potatoes I have first early this time, I think that's March, great for breaking up the soil! Maybe I can get something else in here after...?
Then squash I am going straight up courgette, maybe one pumpkin and a decent stand of corn.
Roots
Got my onions in already, garlic is a priority for next week, and then it's beetroot, parsnips and leeks asap!
And at home....
Pots in the back garden for strawberries, spring onions and then salad greens and herbs.
It's good to have a plan!
Now it's just a matter of enacting it, wish me luck!
