All Panic on the Bridge...
So having recently unpooled some BUSD from the Cub-BUSD pool, I'd sort of forgotten I had, I decided to buy some MATIC, which required bridging to the Polygon chain.
Having swapped the BUSD for BSC USDC (and one MUST remember to get rid of any BUSD one has of any kind asap as I don't think that has a future) I then used the MetaMask bridge function to bridge, it's worked just fine for me before...
I only wanted to swap over $80, so entered that amount for the bridge, went to bed and then went to swap the USDC for MATIC on Polygon the following morning.
The only problem being the following morning I couldn't see my POLYGON USDC, BUGGER!
Memories of Multichain came flooding back, lost a few dollars there a while back.
I had a look at the bridge tx...
HOLY FUCK... That's A LOT of transactions to bridge BSC USDC to Polygon USDC...
NB I don't mind a couple dollars worth of fees for this, that's fine, but the above didn't encourage hope in me, I mean look at that!
In fact looking at these did NOTHING to help me figure out was going on...
HOWEVER, on further investigation, turns out the MM bridge is reliable, the problem was with too many USDC token versions...
The problem...
Well it turned out to be quite simple, the custom USDC token I'd added to MM was USDC.e whatever the fuck that is...?
This one....

That was the FIRST token below.....
From the above addresses on my bridge tx I managed to track down TWO other versions of USDC, which I labelled USDC2 and 3....no luck!
FINALLY, I hit on the strategy of going back into the MM bridge and it showed me I had the $80 worth of USDC I'd bridged on Polygon, and thankfully it allowed me to get details on the token, so I added ANOTHER version of USDC, which is, well.... USDC, or USD...
This one...

And finally, lo and behold there was m $80.
NB I took the screen cap AFTER I'd swapped that for MATIC, which then left this particular wallet!
Lessons learned...
Even after several years I still HATE this bridging thing!
Check the token details yer bridging to first and make sure you've got that added to yer MM wallet!

There's a lot of this stuff I don't understand. That's part of why I don't invest in too many things to keep it simple. I more or less know where I am with Hive, but still keep learning more.
There's a lot to be said for just keeping it simple, for sure!
For most of them, if it is, try across.to is like 1-5 sec fast, and very safe. They do have a limited number of tokens, but is fast, very fast, and very cheap too.
I have heard of them, but didn't know what the experience was like, so thanks for the info.
OK.cheers I will keep that in mind!
Bridging makes my head spin, I recently needed to bridge some YGG tokens from polygon to eth , so I could sell them. I would have been totally lost without a step by step walkthrough from a guildie, the process was so messy and confusing.
The MM bridge actually works just fine you just have to remember to add the tokens to the destination MM!
Seems like that might have been the easiest route for me, as all tokens we in MM to begin with, I'll give it a whorl if I manage to win any YGG in the next season of guild quests.
