Wednesday Walk: A Day of Academia and Nostalgia in My Nephew's School Campus.

White Simple Camera Photo Collage.jpg

The day before yesterday brought with it a unique invitation from my nephew to partake in a school ceremony that held a special place in every student's heart.

January 1 marked the day when schools distributed government-approved and published books nationwide, a momentous occasion for eager students and a delightful opportunity for me to witness the excitement in one of the best schools in our hometown.

Known for its academic excellence, expansive playground, and natural beauty, the school has always held a certain allure even amid winter, which had subtly cast its influence on the once-lush greenery.

Let me share my walk.

As I walked towards the school, the vibrant atmosphere became palpable long before I reached the gates. The entire campus seemed to come alive with the infectious energy of the little scholars eagerly awaiting their new academic companions.

The reputation of the school for delivering exceptional results was evident in the anticipation that hung in the air. My nephew, a student in the 7th standard, extended a warm invitation to join the ceremony, and I gladly accepted, curious to experience the distinctive charm of this educational institution.

The playground, vast and inviting, echoed with the laughter and playfulness of children, creating a symphony of youthful exuberance. My son and nephew, armed with a football, dived into the open space, their joyous shouts harmonizing with the crisp winter air. The waiting period for the book distribution turned into an impromptu playdate, where the children, oblivious to the passing time, reveled in the sheer pleasure of play.

While the boys engaged in their lively game, I decided to explore the surroundings. A peanut seller caught my attention, and the aroma of freshly roasted peanuts drew me closer.
The warm, crunchy nuts became a delightful companion as I observed the bustling campus life. The vivid greenery, the familiar sights of a school routine, and the genuine camaraderie among the students evoked a sense of nostalgia, transporting me back to my school days.

As the clock ticked towards noon, the higher classes began receiving their much-anticipated books. The excitement in the air reached a crescendo as students eagerly flipped through the pages of their new companions for the academic year. My nephew, with a smile of satisfaction, proudly held his book, a tangible representation of the knowledge that awaited him in the coming months.

With the mission accomplished, we decided to make our way back home, retracing our steps through the campus that had become a temporary haven of joy. The journey was punctuated by spontaneous stops and interactions, each contributing to the overall tapestry of the day.

I couldn't resist the temptation to purchase some spicy snacks from a street vendor stationed in front of the school. "Chana Chur," a flavorful mix of spices, crunch, and taste, added a final touch of culinary delight to our day.

The ride back home was filled with a shared sense of contentment. My nephew, armed with knowledge and anticipation for the academic year, my son, fulfilled from hours of play on the sprawling ground, and I, basking in the warmth of familial bonds and the echoes of school-time memories.

The day at my nephew's school was not just an eventful outing; it was a journey through the corridors of academia, a reminder of the universal joys of childhood, and a celebration of the timeless allure of educational institutions.

The campus was really nice.
Here in Bangladesh, peanuts are usually sold like this, in a paper pack with the shell on.
It's a different kind of experience to crack open the nuts and enjoy with chilli powder and slat provided by the seller. I wish I could share some.
Have a great day.

Your blog reminded me of my school days when we used to buy peanuts like this. We use to run for school assembly. Books used to scare us and we were always afraid of exams. 😂
