Sewing blog.//.sewing without electricity

Hi, fellow needleworker. Hope your day is filled with creativity and inspiration.

In this modern age, technology is used for almost everything and is included in almost every aspect of our lives, and sewing is not excluded. Now we have a lot of electronic sewing machines, and advanced electronic equipment that aid sewing and revolutionized our sewing experience. Most of us can't imagine sewing without these electronic innovations. To the sewist in the house, Have you ever wondered what it is like to sew without any form of electricity? Well, you don't have to imagine. Let me share my recent experience and save you the stress of imagining.

The community where I live has currently experiencing blackouts for a month now, but I’ve continued to sew and create despite the inconvenience. It was quite challenging, but I think I'm getting used to it. Here is what I survived with; my generational manual sewing machine and a coal iron. The sewing machine is mine but I had to borrow the coal iron from my neighbor and she also taught me how to use it.

I’d love to show you a dress I made recently and also show you how I made it without electricity. The dress I a simple, sleeveless mini dress a customer requested. The material used is crepe, lining, interfacing (stay), and thread.

My process

I first started by cutting the pattern and using it to cut the crepe fabric and the lining.

I then use my coal iron to fuse the stay to the pattern pieces I cut.

After I began to join the pieces together respectfully.

I see the main material and the lining separately

Then I added a zip to the main fabric

I sewed the lining to the main fabric in a way that hid all the seams.
I closed the opening I use in turning the cloth right side out with a stitch

Finally, I ironed the dress and added my label. this is the final result.

I hope you like it. How would you manage sewing without electricity?

Thank you for visiting my blog✨❤️

Beautiful design dear :) It's good that you managed to do it without electricity, those irons are great and it's good that you got one to work with. The design was impeccable, I love that color. Congratulations 💕.

My mom has a machine like yours, and she loves it, she is always using it, and even though my sister gave her an electric one, she never stops using it, it is manual, it has a handle, that's where I could practice a little bit of sewing, but nothing is impossible when you have the desire to undertake a project, and when you have the gift that you have to create these beautiful garments, I fell in love with this dress, the design and color are very elegant, I would like to make one like this someday. By the way, the iron is beautiful, it looks great. I congratulate you for all your talent, I hope everything gets better very soon.❣️

Thank you, I hope so too.
I love the manual sewing machine too, I'm not really used to the electric machine. Singer sewing machines are amazing, I love it. I wish I could repaint it and make it look brand new again
