This week's topic is - BIRDS AND FOOD

Waxwing
In autumn and winter, these beautiful birds feed on berries, primarily rowan and viburnum. But with the arrival of spring, when they (and fieldfares) have practically consumed the entire berry harvest, they feed on fresh plant buds.

Great Spotted Woodpecker
In winter, these guys peck a hole in the bark of a tree, then pick pine cones and insert them. They then conveniently peck the conifer seeds out of the cones.

Bullfinch
In addition to rowan berry seeds, bullfinches eat box elder seeds because they contain a lot of fat, essential for the birds during cold weather.

Nuthatch
This nimble fellow found some caterpillars in a bare tree whose bark had been stripped by a black woodpecker.

Azure Tit
This rare tit species possesses excellent agility and is capable of climbing to the very edges of thin branches to reach food.
