The Siberian chipmunk (Eutamias sibiricus), also called common chipmunk

These cute little animals are easiest to see in early spring, when the snow has not yet completely melted. At this time, they awaken from a long winter hibernation in which they have been since October.
Their homes are holes that they dig themselves under trees at a depth of about 1.5 meters underground. Although there are exceptions, in my city I know a place where a chipmunk lives in an empty trunk of an old tree stump, and caring people bring him treats and made a plastic canopy so that during the rain water does not get inside.

In places where cedar pine grows, the cones and seeds of this tree can make up to half of the chipmunk's entire diet. In addition, the chipmunk eats other nuts, seeds, plants, and can also eat animal food, such as insects and invertebrates.
In the fall, around October, the chipmunk goes into hibernation. Its vital processes slow down significantly, the frequency of breathing decreases. But once every few weeks, the animal wakes up to eat.
