π¦ The long-tailed tit or long-tailed bushtit (Aegithalos caudatus)
- Aegithalos (Greek): tit
- caudatus (lat.): tailed

This charming bird is called the "long-tailed tit," but it belongs to a separate family and is not related to the tits we regularly see. Another common name for the bird is the "ladle," which refers to its resemblance to a kitchen utensil commonly used for ladling soup. They are always found in small flocks (except during the mating season), and with the arrival of autumn they like to unite with flocks of other birds into a common group.

They feed on small insects, their larvae and eggs, spiders, and aphids, which they search for in leaves and on thin twigs.
In winter, they feed on small seeds (from birch trees or shrubs), and they may also visit bird feeders in city parks and groves, where they pick up small food scraps.
