🦉 The Eurasian nuthatch or wood nuthatch (Sitta europaea asiatica )

These birds are among the most numerous in the forests of my city; they can be seen everywhere and at any time of year. They appear at bird feeders in courtyards, but rarely, preferring forests and villages.

They live in various abandoned hollows or cavities in trees, and can live in birdhouses. Interestingly, if the hole in the hollow is too wide, they cover it with clay to achieve the desired width.
