🦉 The yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella)
- Emberiza embritz (Old German) bunting
- citrinella citrine (lat.) yellow; citrinella (Italian) yellow bird

These birds are essentially wintering birds, but in my region it is apparently too cold for them, so they fly to the southern and western regions where it is much warmer, and wait out the winter there. And in early spring, even before the migrating birds begin to return, these birds slowly fly back. And depending on the weather, they can already be heard in the forests singing songs, around the end of March or the beginning of April, when there is still snow.

Interesting fact. These birds are called "oatmeal" in our country. And they got this name in the old days. When there were no cars and people traveled on horses, these birds would sneak into the stables and eat the horses' oats, which is why they got their name.
