🦉 The long-tailed tit or long-tailed bushtit (Aegithalos caudatus)

  • Aegithalos (Greek): tit
  • caudatus (lat.): tailed

These lovely birds were called differently in the old days, for example: taily, apolly, grapy. Nowadays we call it "Ladle", for its external resemblance to this soup ladle (long tail and small round body).
These active birds are not so difficult to photograph, even with a modern phone. They are friendly, and they are easy to lure with their own sounds on the phone.

They live in small flocks, and only during nest building do they break up into pairs.
With the arrival of autumn, they willingly join other birds migrating through the forests into a real mixed flock.
