🦉 The common whitethroat or greater whitethroat (Curruca communis)
- Curruca is an unidentified bird name mentioned in the poems of the ancient Roman poet Juvenal
- communis (lat.) ordinary, common.

This small bird looks rather modest, grayish-brown plumage without bright markings. It is easy to confuse it with other warblers if you do not look closely. But if you look closely, you can notice its light legs and light eyes, which, for example, distinguishes it from the lesser whitethroat (Curruca curruca). But its song is completely different, fast, crackling, with sharp transitions.

The grey warbler (as we call it) prefers to settle in thickets of bushes or on forest edges where there is dense undergrowth. There it deftly moves among the branches, looking for insects. Having noticed its prey, the bird does not rush in pursuit, but carefully removes it from a leaf or bark, after which it returns to its previous position.
