🦉 The Eurasian siskin (Spinus spinus)
- The Eurasian siskin (Spinus spinus)

The siskin is easy to miss - it is smaller than a sparrow, with inconspicuous green-olive plumage, the males have a black cap and a bright throat, and it loves to sit on top of tall trees and hide in pine needles or foliage.

These birds are nomadic in their way of life. In spring and summer they nest mainly in coniferous forests, but in autumn and winter they gather in noisy flocks and wander in search of food. Sometimes they can be found in the company of their northern relatives - the redpolls.

Smaller birds are totally fascinating how quickly they are able to hide, one really has to have patience to obtain excellent captures you have obtained.
