πŸ¦‰ The coal tit or cole tit (Periparus ater)

  • Peri (Greek) very, hugely
  • Parus (lat.) Tit
  • ater (lat.) black, dark

This species of tit is one of the smallest in its family. It is also very different in appearance. It has dark plumage and a characteristic "executioner's mask" on its head. Her voice is similar to that of the great tit, but has slightly different intonations.
It lives mainly in coniferous forests, but can also be found in mixed forests, which is where I actually photograph them.

However, for some reason this species is not numerous in the area of my city. And I meet them mainly in the spring, when they have a mating season. The male sits on a branch and loudly sings a song (this is exactly in these photos). And you need to be careful to get closer to him, because this species is much more timid than great tits.
