๐ฆ The grey-headed woodpecker (Picus canus), also known as the grey-faced woodpecker
- Picus (lat.) woodpecker; in Romanesque mythology, Peak, or Picus, the Roman god of forests and the king of Latium, distinguished by male beauty, rejected the love claims of the sorceress Circe (Kirka), after which the offended Kirka turned him into a woodpecker
- canus (lat.) gray

Unlike the Great Spotted Woodpecker, it is dressed modestly but elegantly. Ash-gray head (for which it got its name), soft olive back. The only thing that gives away males is a small red spot on the forehead, which females do not have. It is a great luck to meet him, because he is very rare. He prefers old deciduous forests with an abundance of rotten trees and behaves much more cautiously than his relatives.

He also has a very memorable voice, which sounds melancholic like crying, and is somewhat reminiscent of the cries of birds of prey.
