πŸ¦‰ The tree pipit (Anthus trivialis)

  • Anthus (ancient Greek mythology) Antus, son of Hippodamia, turned into a bird
  • Trivialis (lat.) common, simple, banal

At first glance, it is the most ordinary bird: grayish-sandy, with small dark specks, as if sprinkled with earth. No bright spots, no striking features. Even the white eyebrow is barely noticeable. But as soon as it takes off, it turns into a small acrobat.
In spring, the tree pipit loves to show off its "concert". It suddenly soars up from a high blade of grass or branch, hangs in the air for a second - and then its simple but ringing song is heard, and then it glides back, as if on a parachute. And so on, time after time.

These birds arrive in the second wave, at the end of April, when there is practically no snow in the forest. When the bird is searching for food, it is very difficult to notice it because it literally merges with the ground, and only its movement gives it away.
