🦉 The common whitethroat or greater whitethroat (Curruca communis)
- Curruca is an unidentified bird name mentioned in the poems of the ancient Roman poet Juvenal
- communis (lat.) ordinary, common.

Grey warblers arrive at the end of April, sometimes even when frosts are still possible at night. They occupy bush thickets, forest edges, groves - any places where they can hide from the wind and hide from sight. All their behavior is based on this - to be close, but remain unnoticed. You are more likely to hear this bird than see it.

They feed on insects, spiders, berries and seeds. They move dexterously along thin branches, looking into every crack in search of food. They build their nest right in the bushes, rarely higher than one and a half meters from the ground. It is a neat cup of grass, cobwebs and moss, well camouflaged.
It is interesting that grey warblers can remember their neighbors in the territory and distinguish their voices. Once I noticed how one male began to sing especially loudly and persistently as soon as a new competitor appeared in his zone. The same thing happens if you simply turn on the voice of this bird on your phone.
