🦉 The Eurasian sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus), also known as the northern sparrowhawk

We call these birds of prey - "quailhawk". Apparently, someone in the old days named him that because of his love for quail. However, this predator eats not only them. Its main diet is small birds, thrushes, pigeons. It can also hunt insects, small rodents and lizards.

This predator is known for its speed and agility. It mainly hunts birds from ambush, hidden in foliage or in winter behind trees.
Several of these birds appeared in my favorite forest a few years ago. And every spring and summer I saw them in the area around the hills and the meadow.
