Birdwatching - 2084 π¦
π¦ The black kite (Milvus migrans)
- Milvus (lat) - kite
- migrans (lat.) - migrating
In these photos of mine you see kites in early spring. How are they different the rest of the time? Their plumage! In spring, birds look for a mate, build nests and have offspring. Therefore, they protect their territory and relatives. Thrushes and crows do this especially fiercely. As soon as they notice a kite in the sky, they immediately attack it!
The kite does not have high agility and speed, so it always suffers from attacks by these birds. Therefore, they almost always fly with torn plumage, especially visible on the tail.
Therefore, kites prefer slow prey or even carrion. They especially like to grab something from the remains of food in garbage dumps.
