Tiana's party

"Where is Tiana? And why hasn't she done the chores I instructed her to do?" Mary asked Paulina, who sat on the terrace in the compound.

Mary is the hostel guide of Tiana and Paulina; they are roommates; they both have different personalities, and they don't get along so well. Tiana believes Paulina acts holier than thou, while Paulina thinks Tiara is too social for her liking as she puts all her daily activities on social media.

"She's probably in the room shooting TikTok videos; she has been busy with that since you left," Paulina reported to Mary.

Out of anger, Mary went to the girl's room and met Tiana, shooting Tiktok videos as expected. This got Mary annoyed, she was mad at Tiana for disobeying her orders.

Immediately, Tiana rushed out to do the things she left undone. She met Paulina at the terrace and she was mad at her for not informing her that Mary was back.

"It's not good to be wicked and I don't know your problem with me. Why can't you inform me that Mary was back so that I can quickly do what she ordered me to do?", Tiana asked Paulina.

"Are you listening to yourself? Mary was out for three hours, and within that hour, you didn't deem it fit to do the things she asked you to; why should I tell you? Am I your watchwoman?" Paulina talked back to Tiana.

"Please don't involve me in your wahala (trouble)", Paulina hissed and went inside.

"It's not your fault, now I will have to do all these by myself. I should have talked with her calmly so that she could assist me with these chores", Tiana said to herself as she shrugged to get the chores started.

After completing what Tiana was asked to do by Mary, she was given a stern warning, which, if not adhered to, could lead to her exile from the hostel, which would definitely have a bad impact on her.

"I won't condone this habit of yours, Tiana; if you do not adhere to the rules here, I will have to send you out of the hostel. In the rules here, there is a limit to the use of mobile but you are crossing the limit. I hope you remember you signed an agreement", Mary explained to Tiana who looked sober.

"I'm sorry ma, that won't repeat itself again", Tiana said innocently.

Paulina was in the room going through some novels when Tiana entered murmuring.

"The rules here are just too much and so strict. Wait, why aren't we allowed to party? This guardian is just too much. Esther's hostel is not too rigid, they are allowed to party and go out of the hostel to explore the outside world", Tiana complained.

"Everything here is just so different, they are taming us like animals. Paulina, didn't you hear what I've been saying since I came in?" Tiana asked, looking a bit pissed off.

"I heard you loud and clear, madam; what are you expecting me to say or do to your complaints? If you are not okay with things around here, talk with Mary, or, better, ask for an appointment with the management. Stop complaining to me; I can't help you. Rather, go to people who can solve your problem", Paulina replied.

"I tried to figure out what your problem is, but obviously, it's not known to yourself because why are you always against me trying to prove better than I am? Oh, you want to be favored, right? Is that the reason you are acting like you are better than I am?" Tiana lashed at Paulina, who kept reading her novel.

"You are just so annoying; I would like to change rooms," Tiana said and hissed.

Tiana continued using her mobile phone secretly, monitoring Mary's movement to avoid trouble when caught. Tiana's birthday is near, and she wishes she could hold a birthday party to celebrate her 20th birthday, but according to the rule, the hostel doesn't give room for that. She has few friends outside the hostel as they are not always allowed to go outside the hostel except once in a while. She has been communicating with these friends, planning how she can leave the hostel to a club to celebrate her birthday. She couldn't make plans with Paulina because she wouldn't agree to her will.

A few days later, Mary announced to the girls that she would be traveling for an urgent appointment which would take three days.

"I will be traveling for three days and I want you both to behave yourself till I'm back. You are grown enough to handle things around here. I don't want stories when I'm back; the management is aware of my travel, which means they can come around at any time to check around. I don't want this particular hostel to have any problem with the management; Tiana, I hope you are listening?" Mary asked, facing Tiana.

"I understand ma, there won't be any problem, I promise", Tiana replied with a smile.

"No problem, I will hold on to your words, Paulina please take good care of the hostel", Mary said to Paulina.

"All will be fine ma; you don't have to worry," Paulina replied.

The next day, Mary traveled, and this was a great opportunity for Tiana to celebrate her birthday as planned as her birthday is the next day, but unfortunately, there was a riot in their neighborhood that evening when Mary traveled. Due to the fear, Tiana was scared that something bad might happen if she left the hostel, but she wanted to celebrate her birthday so badly. Instead of going to the club, she invited her outside friend over to the hostel. They came with a few drinks and snacks, which Tiana had sent money to them to get for her. Paulina was so disappointed when she got to know all that Tiana had planned because of Mary's absence.

Tiana and her friend had a small party, playing music and shooting TikTok videos. Paulina sat outside excluding herself from the party as she was not pleased with Tiana's attitude. After the party, Tiana's friends returned back to their various homes. After satisfying herself, Tiana decided to talk with Paulina.

"Paulina, here are some snacks and juice for you. I noticed you didn't come in throughout the party, and you didn't eat any of the snacks either", Tiana said to Paulina, who was listening to music on the terrace.

"Thank you, I am not hungry, and if I am, I will go to the hostel kitchen, and I've eaten lunch. Thank you so much", Paulina replied Tiana, who was still holding a juice and snack in her hand.

"Paulina, don't be like that; at least have a taste of it," Tiana insisted.

"Thank you. I don't like taking sugary things and snacks, or have you seen me having one before?" Paulina asked as she stood to enter.

"Okay, relax, Paulina, you are not going to tell Mary, right?" Tiana asked.

"I knew that's where you were going, so what are you about to do, if I may ask?" Paulina replied.

"Don't be like this Paulina, please, you can't tell Mary about this", Tiana said.

"But you can hold a party in her absence? That makes us even. You held a party, and I will tell her you held the party", Paulina replied.

"Please, I'm pleading, don't tell Mary", Tiana pleaded.

"You are lucky the management did not come around when all this nonsense was going on. Anyways, I will save your ass just this once; you try it next time, I will snitch on you, and you better behave yourself, don't get me annoyed, or else I might change my mind", Paulina replied as she left.

Mary returned the third day and praised the girls for good conduct unknown to her that a party was held in her absence. Paulina concealed the secret and that saved Tiana lots of stress.
