The thing I hated but needed

As humans, there are times when our most needed gadgets or materials become a thorn in one's side. As a lady trying to find a way around life to survive and earn a living, it wasn't as easy as it seemed. When I started my journey into adulthood, I wanted things to work out for me just the way I wanted. I hate going through difficult times, not knowing that difficulties define adulthood. I am looking for how to keep myself engaged online and make a living as an entrepreneur by owning an online market where people can order their desired products, and I will get them delivered. I thought all I need is a smartphone, but it goes more than owning one.

During that time, my brother gave me an ITEL smartphone, and that was the beginning of my headache. "I finally have a smartphone, wait for your time", I told my younger sister.

"Be deceiving yourself, the phone that's overheating", my younger sister said but I never paid attention to her words because all that mattered at that time was that I now own a smartphone.

That phone became my cherished treasure as I can now be on social media platforms where I can advertise my goods and connect to the world beyond my geographical location. Ever since I started using the phone, it doesn't serve me as I wanted because it always switches itself off at every interval and refuses to on until some hours later. It became so frustrating that I always got pissed off and just dumped it somewhere. Sometimes, when I am in the middle of a transaction, it will go off and refuse to go on. I had no choice but to keep using it till I get another one which when is not certain.

"Dad, I need a new phone, this one is frustrating me. I'm losing customers", I complained to my dad one afternoon.

"Keep managing that for now; I will get a new one for you soon," my dad replied.

This was something I needed, yet it is giving me a tough time. I couldn't discard it because it's better than none. Around that time, I was introduced to Hive, and it wasn't a pleasant experience writing with that phone. I missed some post deadlines because of the epileptic nature of the phone. Some I got frustrated to the point of abandoning the writeup when it was taking longer than I expected. After a few months, my dad decided to get a new one for me when my complaints were too much. He got an Infinix smart 7HD. I was overjoyed thinking I could finally stay active since it's a brand-new phone.

Just when I thought it was time to start enjoying my phone, the fingerprint stopped working after a few days. Likewise, after using it for a while, it will send a notification that the temperature is too high and switch off. I would have to wait for it to cool and come up again. "Is this not a new phone?", I asked myself when the challenge was getting unbearable. I took it back to where I bought it, and I was told that's how the phones from such brands are. I was speechless and wondering how I would battle this new problem.

I'm always so annoyed anytime the phone goes off; I'm not enjoying the amount I paid to buy the new phone. I hated the stress ìts made me go through but I couldn't do anything about it because I needed it. I kept on managing the phone until I was surprised with a brand new Samsung AO4 by my dad a few months ago. Since then I've been enjoying myself more and have been able to engage more on Hive and also my business.

Congratulations on your new phone. It's a milestone, you know. Truly, bad and faulty phones can be thorns in one's flesh, threatening one's peace and sanity. Lol. Thank God you were able to pull through that phase.
